Rick's Hot Rod Shop stainless tank

The stainless tank that I ordered from Rick's Hot Rod Shop arrived today. It's narrowed for the mini-tubs, has integrated sump and baffling for EFI, has a -10 pick up and -8 return, a GM 90 ohm sending unit, and is slightly deeper to make up for being narrowed. It should be right at 16 gallons.

It looks fantastic, the craftsmanship is first rate. Thanks again to all the guys at Rick's.

Vents suck.. run a vented cap.. :)

Well at least mine did.. nothing but trouble till I capped it off and swapped the cap.

I need to contact Ricks about Penny.. she needs a REAL gas tank..

Looks awesome...sucks that it has to get put under the car...sometimes you want to display even the gas tanks!!

There are threaded bunges on either side of the sending unit that are for hooking as a vent.

Rick@Rick's Hot Rod Shop 07-15-2005 07:06 PM

Just a quick NOTE about our vents... Unlike other tanks with vents our vent provisions are different. The bung extends down aobut 2.5" into the tank they will accept a roll over check valve, and have a piece of 5/16 tube welded to it that goes to the highest part of the tank. This in effect greatly minimises the amount of fuel that can possibly exit and also cuts down on fumes.

i saw the tape next to the sender.... wasnt sure if they were vents or not, since they would greatly lower the fuel level...but the bent tubes/check valves make sence.... i get it now. thanks

Just got my tank too!

I just got my tank also. Awesome craftmanship. Those guys do great work and pretty friendly and helpful. It took about 30 minutes to install because I have to find some damn wire connectors. I attached a hose to my vent for a charcoal canister down the road. The car started with no problems. I am happy customer. Best money spent so far!!!

It's a work of art. Very nice. Is that the OE 69 filler location? It looks high--like a 67/68.

ProdigyCustoms 07-16-2005 10:03 PM

They are a work of art. I had the chance to install one in the yellow 69 convertible. To be totally honest I at one time thought about making tanks, after getting Rick's tank, I said screw it, I will let him do it as he is leaving no room for improvment of quality or cost.

I have installed other brands of tanks, and Rick's is the class of the field by far.

Beautiful craftsmanship. With the fittings in the front how are they routed internally so you don't have fuel slosh away from the pickup?

XcYZ 07-17-2005 05:38 PM

Rick, it's fully baffled with the pickup located within. Trust me, I made Rick's Hot Rod Shop aware that it was a big concern to me. With the boost and EFI, a fuel pickup problem would be ugly.

It's a shame that tank has to go under the car! Just bring plenty of mirrors with you wherever you go!

Tank

I have one of these too and I can tell you the quality is first rate. It runs an Aeromotive A1000 pump inside the tank as well. A person should have no fuel problems. Since the pump is in the tank it should be nice and quite and keep the pump cool.
