DriverzInc... New 55 Driver!
Hi everyone,
About two weeks ago, I picked up a 55 Chevy. Plans are still in the air on this one, but I'm leaning towards two tone, with Lexus Pearl white top and trunk. Definitely going to run some big wheels, thinking 19/20 Rushforth Rated X in flat black and polished lip with hardware delete, and an interior to match the two tone. Car already has black leather, so I'm thinking perforated white leather inserts in the seats, and in the doors. Motor is a 406, with all the flamed billet goodies, straight out of 1995. I will be completely changing the entire look of the engine bay in the next few weeks. Motor runs like a bat out of hell though... Trans is a well built TH400, so I'm debating Gear Vendors, or a whole new 700r4. So far, I've already ordered Baer Brakes for all four corners, and the new CPP master cylinder with the integrated prop valve. I am also ordering a custom, shortened Fab9 Rear housing from Chassisworks. The rear leafs have already been relocated inboard, so there is a tone of room for the 305/35/20 Nitto 555r I have to tuck up in there. Some of the trim is definitely coming off, especially the lower rocker trim. (Yuck). As soon as Jason Rushforth has finished the rendering, I'll post it up, and will continue to update you all with pictures as we move along... hope you all like it. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e9.../55Foose_7.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e9.../55Foose_8.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e9.../55Foose_3.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e9...55Foose_11.jpg |
wow super straight...flamed goodies, gotta love it..but does it have the steering wheel to match:rofl:

55-56 Fesler Billet Hinges
Hey Guys,
Nice addition Jon, I have the new Fesler Billet Hood hinges for this car that have been shipping for weeks now. They are sick and really clean the engine bay up or look at the pictures to see for your self. http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...elairhinge.jpg http://www.shop.feslerbuilt.com/prod...&productId=105 Let me know what you think Jon they would really look sharp on this car and we have about 4 other models out very soon. Check out the 67-72 Chevy truck hinge should be shipping anytime http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...Chevytruck.jpg |
Wow... nice catch !
Makes a ton of sense buying one already done and then changing it up for your own personal taste.... I wonder what keeping it all black and just adding the black rated X's would look like:unibrow: |
Wow Jon,it looks better in the 2 weeks since you've owned it!
Someone's been busy waxing... |
Heavy car + high hp =Gear Vendor for sure. Cant wait to see what you guys come up for this one. Did you sell the Chevelle?

I'll have it drawn up next week to see how it looks rollin' on Rushforths! |

That is my favorite year Tri-Five. I dig the all-black look, but a two-tone white will still look great too. Can't wait to see it with some wheels.
BTW, nice house! Tony |

Jason Rushforth is almost done with the rendering. I'm looking at two options. One is a black and white two tone, the other is a black and red. The black and red would be a very sinister build, the black and white would be much more traditional. So far I've ordered the Baer brakes, and the billet hood hinges from Chris Fesler, whom we are a dealer for. Next week, I'll get the Chassisworks Fab9 rear ordered up. Car is going to run 19 and 20 inch Black Rushforth Rated X's, and a Nitto 305/35/20 rear tire. |
nice
good lookin 55
the white and black ....oh  radrambler |
I'd really like to do a 55 someday, they are my favorite of the 50's. Looks like a really clean car to start with.
|
Here's Jason Rushforth's rendering of what we've finally decided to do.... it was a hard decision, but we decided on sinister, black and red.
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e9...erz55final.jpg Some subtle changes.. mesh grill in black, impala rear chevy emblem in grill, shaved rocker trim, red and black two tone wheels, etc. Car goes into paint in two weeks! :woot: |
Looks good ! Very Different ! |
you paint the wheels red and black i will fly to cali and sand the red off myself .lol
other than that i like it . jason have you been reading "sport compact for tri5 " |

jon beware of rednecks, he will blend in more out there as he's shiny on top now, which is a good thing , because otherwise he'd have a mullet, Kentucky waterfall style to be exact.. :lolhit: |
Love the concept...Not crazy about the red wheels. JMHO

We knew the red wheels were going to mess with people's heads but when you see them, they'll grow on you and they're sure to catch people's eye and make them read the centercap! Or we could just do the same thing as everyone else....... |
it will be " outside the box " at NOPI

enough said..... |
It's definitely going to be different, and I think it will be one of those things when you see it, you might change your mind... Kind of like when I first said I was powder coating all the trim on my Impala flat gray. People were very against that idea too, but when they saw it, many changed their minds, and shut their traps. We'll see... not like wheels can't be changed out, right

Those punks with civics are gonna be pissed that your mocking their style! |
Yup, you better stick to 18" Americans and single color paint.
Don't want to disturb the status quo.... **DISCLAIMER*** this is in no way intended to offend anyone with 18" Americans, single color paint, or a red 69 Camaro (because they usually have both) It IS meant to offend the status quo.... |

Jon, i like it.
Everyone will look at it, if it was a plan black 55 with wheels, i would walk right past it, but thats a car i would stop and look. |
For sure outside the Box, and for that a score of 10 . .. .
When you do get ready to sell, contact Rob Drydek.
|
I like it! I knew I'd like those wheels when I saw a picture of them. I'd roll them!
I just don't have the theme for them yet. But I'll keep you guys in mind! |

Thanks for the compliments, and the encouragement... I knew it wouldn't be fore everybody, but at the end of the day, it's in MY garage. Chris, looking forward to the hinges, and thank you also for the encouragement. I totally agree. Jason and I haven't talked about the trim, but I agree that it might look better de-chromed. |
i dont understand how anyone can like bigs rims on our cars but red hoops is totally out of the question... thier in the same catagory... its thinking outside of the box which what this type of forum/style builds are all about.
on that note i think it looks gay!!! lol jk i thinks it look killer john/jason big thumbs up!!!! what about int.?? i think somthing like the chevelles but red and blacdk would fit perfect. |
Jon-
As you may know I am building a 55 as well and trying to be different. Much like yourself I am fortunate and good friends with a designer. Jason knows him. He is all about pushing the envelope and very aggressive in his designs. He has tossed me countless ideas - and some of them are out there for most, but killer IMO. I plan on doing quite a few - but some I just can't afford, have the talent to pull it off or the time for that matter. Below is a quote from him in an email he sent me - which I read quite often to keep me on track. "YOU NEED UNDERSTAND SOMETHING,,,,, YOUR DOING SOMETHING DIFFERENT,,,,MOST YOUR FRIENDS WILL NOT UNDERSTAND,,,,,THAT MEANS YOUR ON THE RIGHT TRACK!! DO NOT ASK YOUR FRIENDS FOR THEIR OPINION. TAKE SOME RISKS,,,,ROLL THE DICE WITH ME,,, THIS CAR HAS A SERIOUS CHANCE AT BEING JUST ANOTHER TRI-5 WHO CARES!!!!! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY,,,,," I say roll forward with it. Jason has some killer ideas. Designers are always a step ahead of most it seems. You know the old saying also. "No risk...No reward" Good luck on the project- Brent |

Go big or go home! |
I am liking the look
I know these guys are your competition, but check out their web site. Give it a few seconds to load and it will scroll through some cars they have done with the lip painted to match the car. The Atomic Orange Z06 is a stunner!
www.360forged.com If my car was not yellow, I would consider doing the wheel lips the same color as the car. I think it would look good with a black lip, red stripe and charcoal center. |
I love tri-fives but I usualy walk right on by at car shows because I've seen so many. You do something like this and I'll surely look up down and all around.
You can't get by with looking like everyone else anymore. This hobby is far to piblicised to just do another car and expect to draw attension. |
