norcal AMC junkie
Hi all, been lurking on the site for quite some time. Realized I haven't ever posted here yet so I decided to put up and introduction. I have a '73 Javelin AMX that I've been working on (butchering?) since 1992. I also have a '74 jav amx shell and a '75 gremlin in a friends field. I try to do most of the work myself which results in everything taking YEARS to complete. My car has followed a repeating pattern of:
1) do something 2) drive it for a bit 3) take it apart to do something else 4) repeat currently the car is apart again to be rewired, custom dash, new center console, etc, etc. I'm actually trying to get it driveable again so I can take it to the all amc car show in Pomona at the end of may. the car was an automatic for the first several years I owned it. then I swapped in a t10 4spd. then finally put in a tremec tko 500. has wilwood brakes and a coil over kit up front. stock rear (with 2" lowering blocks). engine has been rebuilt (not by me). dyno'd at 267 rear wheel hp and 400 ft lbs of torque. The paint scheme is inspired by the roy woods racing trans-am javelins from '71. I'm a big trans-am nerd and have been to many of the wine country classics to see the cars in person (and even sit in the #2 RWR jav). there's more info on the car at my blog: http://asifnyc.com yes, I have a blog for my car... it's mostly for me to keep track of the things I've done to it. I've searched and seen some posts from other amc'ers but are their any amc guys still active on the board? how about PT guys in-general from the SF bay area? anyway, I've gotten a lot of great information and inspiration from the board. I'm hoping to get this javelin to a point of "completion" so that I can work on the Gremlin. The javelin will never really be done but after 15 years I'm really ready to work on a different car for a while. anyway, thanks for reading. oh yeah, here's a pic of the car: http://asifnyc.com/images/1973javamx.JPG |
Welcome aboard.

Another AMC'er
Hey, nice to see another AMC on here. I have been lurking around here for a while and decided to post. Here is my 69 Javelin I have been working on with a lot of help from my Dad.
http://inlinethumb47.webshots.com/44...600x600Q85.jpg Trying to get the paint and interior done before the May 30th SocalAMC show. I saw on your blog that you were planing to go, hope to see you there. Thanks, Jon |
nice javelin
cool car. I want to get a 68-70 javelin eventually. yes, I will be at the amc show on the 30th. hopefully with my car but we'll see how the next month goes. where are you located? what are your plans for your javelin?

I live in Covina, CA about 5 miles west of were the car show will be. The plans for the car are to build a trans am type car, it will be painted Big Bad Orange. It will have a 390 (which i have) or get a 401 for it. Not sure on the trans yet TKO-600 or the new Magnum T-56, right now I am leaning towards the 600. I have wilwood forged superlites all the way around for it on 12.19 GT rotors.
Here is a link to my build up and more pictures: http://amccars.net/cgi/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1234740943 This car has been to the first 2 socalAMC shows and will show up at the third no matter what it looks like. Thanks, Jon |
