Finally a roller!!! Thanks Jakes Rod Shop

I am just going to start a new thread on my build instead of adding on the old one since so much has changed with the build. Since RTTH last year I have gotten to know Jake fairly well, and when my project stalled and I couldn’t find the will to carry on with it any longer, Jake stepped in and coordinated with my wife to have the car sent to his shop in Maine. That was the first step in me finding the want-to that allowed me to move forward with the project. As some already know it is a Morrison MaxG with a 3-link rear. The wheels are Rushforth Super Spoke 18x10 and 19x12. Brakes are Wilwood 6 piston with 14" rotors front, and for the rear we went with Wilwood 4 piston with 14" rotors with an integral mounted parking brake. Jake and his crew built an entire custom core support to tie the front together, and for some added support. I started with a basketcase and although there is still a long way to go, we are moving forward so it feels great to say the least. I cant say enough how good the JRS guys have treated me either, I was there for 7 days last week on a sort of working vacation because I wanted a hand (albiet very small) in helping to build my car. They handled my newbie questions, beginner mistakes, and my ADD very well. LOL So I owe a big Thank You to Jake, Kelly, and the entire crew of Yankees working on my car, but the biggest thanks has to go to my wife Stephanie for not letting me throw in the towel and saying screw it. And now onto what everyone really cares about anyway the pictures. Jake also has a lot of pictures he may put on here as well.

Very cool. Looks good. Good to hear about Jake's Rod Shop. And kudos to your wife for not letting you give up on the car. Keep us posted.

Glad to see you stuck with it and Kudos to your wife for being involved. |
Thanks guys! Yea I am looking forward to keep moving forward and try to have it all together for some events next year! I will ask jake to post some pics of the core support, I really believe he will start selling a version of this core support soon to be used in conjunction with his subframes.

Very nice.
Jake did you remove the pinch weld on the rockers? |
That looks great!!!
I am in the saving mode for my Max G, what ride height is that frame set up for? |
yes, we cut the inner rocker completely out to the upper pinch weld, which is about 1 inch beyond the lower pinch weld, then plated across the rocker with .188 4 inch flat stock, using plug weld on top and solid welding rocker to bottom edge of flat stock, then metal finished to 180 grit. the frame is a 5 inch rocker height, bottom frame height set up.
|
Thanks Jake.
What kind of ride height? Are you going to tie it with a cage? This is going to be a killer project. Please post more pics  |
yes, car will have a nicely tucked 10-12 point cage, 1.75x.120 dom.
ride height will be 5 inches at rocker, need to make it drivable. |
Firewall
Is that a pre fabbed firewall or something you made? If so where to purchase?
|
We made it. i have a template and can make one pretty easy., it can be with or without the wiper motor opening.
|
Nice ride.
|
Looking good. Love the smoothed firewall.

I have 5 first gens here and all have custom firewalls, all a bit different, the template is the same for each, we just hand fabricate (bead roll) each one to the style the owner wants. |
Great work Jake.
Anytime you get the urge to post pics of those other cars you've got there... :D |
Jake,
Any pictures of the rear tubs and sheetmetal around the 3rd link? Nice job! Wes |
The stance is bad ass!
|
Looks awesome. I really like the core support and closeout with the dimple die treatment.

Thanks for the kind words guys, It means a great deal, considering I was ready to go buy a vette and be done with it. I realize it is not very far along but I am moving forward and thats a big step considering. And like I have said before Jakes Rod Shop should be considered for all aspects of your potential build, and not just an awesome suspension system. They do great work on the entire car. Jake and his crew are really talented when it comes to sheetmetal and tin work. I cant even begin to tell you about the other projects going on in his shop, (mainly because I swore an oath of secrecy) but one other car he is working on there will absolutely blow your mind. I walked around it daily and it never failed that I would spot something different, unique, and cool! |
Your car looks great . Nice work Jake

update
Guys, heres an update I have been meaning to post. We finished up jays metal fab for the most part, roughed in a few area in body work and ep primed it. It is really taking shape to be a badd ass car. Jay is trying to figure out his motor selection and tranny so this monster can be finished. Its has as good of a stance as I have ever seen on a camaro. Anyway here are some updates to his build and a link to the project page. Let us know what you think.
