Gen VI 454 Block & parts

Back on the market.................this is a crazy good deal. The block was this much by itself.....

It's a Gen VI block that has been line honed and decked. It was brand new when I bought it. It's .030 over with a 4.280 bore. It also comes with the timing cover and a remote oil filter adapter.
The crank is a scat cast external balance standard with 4.25 stroke. Rated for 700hp. I also have a professional products balancer and centerforce billet sfi flywheel with low miles.
I have a set of I beam rods(6.385) with ARP cap screws.
The cam is a crane billet hydraulic roller with press on cast gear.(For longevity) .632 lift I/E 244/256 at .050 on a 114 lsa. Made 593hp at 6k and 587 at 3700.
Also have a moroso 6 qt oil pan that fits a Camaro and multiple other cars.
It's all in good shape, the cylinders may need a bore.
I'd let it all go for $1100 firm if you pick it up.

Todd, we need a price :D

John

Vegas69 12-19-2009 06:02 PM

Fixed....

BBC71Nova 12-19-2009 07:10 PM

This is a 1-piece rear main, correct?

Vegas69 12-19-2009 10:04 PM

Can be....I have a 2 piece adapter so it's your choice of which crank shaft you want to run. For leaks the 1 piece is better. You could easily put a GM crankshaft in it. I have a centerforce external balance flywheel that would work perfect as well. I'll make you a pacage deal. :unibrow: I don't have room for it.....

Vegas69 01-02-2010 09:30 PM

It's crated up and no reasonable offer will be refused. It needs to go down the road.........

BBC71Nova 01-03-2010 08:16 AM

HA! I'm trying to fight the urge :D . Someone needs to pick this up. Didn't you guys hear they shut the plant down and aren't making BBC's anymore hehe.

John

That's an amazing deal. I wish I lived closer to you.

Vegas69 01-19-2010 10:07 AM

I just went through this with the last buyer. He lived in Northern Cal and shipping was only $280 if I drop it off at Yellow freight here in town and you pick it up. If you can't pick it up then it's like $420 to your door. I am also going over to Hesperia CA in February. You could meet me there and save on shipping.

DaleLee 01-19-2010 12:34 PM

Hey whats in Hesperia... ?:_paranoid I didn't think anyone knew where Hesperia is.:)

Vegas69 01-19-2010 12:50 PM

My engine buidler, Pettis Performance.

DaleLee 01-19-2010 01:06 PM

GREAT DEAL!
Bump for Todd.

jr421 01-19-2010 05:36 PM

Todd I can't believe you haven't sold this stuff yet. If I wasn't stuck on building a 540 I would buy it from you in a heart beat. However I may know someone that may be looking for what you have I will let you know in the morning.

Vegas69 01-19-2010 05:39 PM

Thanks.....it was pending for a week. If I had room I'd keep it. Lot's of interest, I'm sure it will be down the road soon. Let me know on your buddy.

jr421 01-19-2010 05:42 PM

I may want that oil pan, if you seperate it? How did it work on the track?

Vegas69 01-19-2010 05:58 PM

Not willing to seperate at this point......

jr421 01-20-2010 12:24 PM

Todd-

I am waiting for a call back from my friend that builds a bunch of Big Block Drag engines. He has someone looking for a 496 BBC I would think this might work out great for him if the guy is serious. I am supposed to get a call back today, so I will let you know. I just wanted to update you and give you a bump to the top too.

Larry

Last chance before I list the whole kit and kaboodle on Chevelles.com and Camaros.net. The block was over $1,000 all by itself. The whole enchilada is $1,100 and I'll ship it. The block is already in the crate. Here is the rest of the parts.(Dipstick and Pistons not included)

Todd

I talked to Joe today and the guy he had interested hasn't come up with the money. I would take that as he isn't serious. If I weren't dead set on 540 inches I would take it but a guys got to have goals. Good luck.

55Sedan 01-21-2010 12:05 PM

Sorry for all the (dumb?) questions

Todd,

Why do you think the cylinders might need a bore? Is that the only machine work that may be needed? Roller cam, but not the lifters, right? And you're including the 2-piece rear main seal adapter? $1,100 shipped (to Calif zip 93245)? Let me talk to the boss, er, wife, (:hail:) and give you an answer tomorrow?

Hi Larry,
I can feel a few of the wear marks in the cylinders with a finger nail. It needs cam bearings, and it does have the 2 piece rear main seal adapter. No lifters are included. I'm firm on the $1,100, any cheaper and I'll just set it on the curb for the garbage men. I can meet you in Hesperia or Barstow next month at no charge. Looks to be under 4 hours from you. Shipping will be around $350 if you pick it up at yellow freight. Let me know what the boss says.

jr421 01-21-2010 03:53 PM

If this post only had a Darrel

55Sedan 01-22-2010 12:06 PM

jr421, "that's funny right there...I don't care who ya are!"

Todd, I just sent you a pm. She said yes, but with conditions. (She is my impulse restriction mechanism.)
