Two Walbro 255 Lph Pumps
Just got back from the dyno for my first pull. Fuel pressure fell to 33 psi @
4848rpm twin turbo set up made 447 rwhp with 15 psi boost. AFR went to 12.2. Realized that only one of my fuel pumps are working. I found the fuse blown and the second pump is shorted. Is this comon for a walbro 255 pump? |
In my experience the Walbro's are good pumps, no issues.

Hope you're running them on relays....
Ran a walbro for 6 or 7 years with zero issues. Putting a Walbro 255 in tank in the '32 Ford I'm doing EFI as we speak. |
What's your fuel pressure at full boost?
|
33 psi. I found out that one of my pumps had failed after the fact. With only one pump we made 447 rwhp with the potential of alot more with two.
|
We've had good luck with them aswell. Have you considered adding a fuel pressure saftey switch/transducer? We run multi-pump applications very often and always try to have something for safety just in case.....
|
Has anyone ever installed a wide band o2 and if so what type of gauge so I can constantly monitor my afr's? If my afr dropped it would be safe to assume I had a loss in fuel pressure.

Just make sure to get the O2 sensor placement correct in the downpipe so the reading with be accurate. |
I like the NGK A/FX WBO2. Uses the better NGK vs Bosch sensor and stands up to heat and leaded fuels better. Should be installed atleast 12-14" after the turbo in the downpipe. Never install ahead of the turbo.

Thanks I think i'm gonna go with the innovate looks fairly simple.
|
have a look at the new Aeromotive pump!! direct replacement and a single should be good for 800 hp
|
The car is gonna put that to the tire, so I really dont have a choice.
|
I've been running twin 255 for a while no problems
|
There are lots of China made Walbro 255 knock offs out there. Be sure you have real USA made pumps....Racetronix has them......wouldn't trust any from Fleabay!
|
Since your fuel pressure fell make sure your filters are the proper ones and that you don't have a carb style somehow accidentally sent out. Also make sure they aren't knockoffs. Not sure how you tell. Dedicated quality (Bosch) relays or similar only.
Are you on pump gas or e85? I'm going to run 2 of the Walbro 400/450lph e85 pumps for mine. Should support 1000rwhp+ on e85 with -8AN feed line. |
so the af was 12:1 ? what was it normally or what should it be at WOT ?
12:1 should be fine for NA , but i guess boost is a little different ? |
The OP hasn't been on in 2 years, I wouldn't get my hopes up about getting answers.
|
I dont know is it same in US but there (Europe) Bosch gives only 500 hours warranty to they pump when using E-85.
Water and E-85 is really bad to non anodised aluminium. |
