Is anyone using a Keisler R/T 56?
Hello:
Is anyone using a Keisler R/T 56, "Dogbox" Transmission? If so, how you you like it? What did you put it in? What do you think about it? I'm looking forward to your post. Thanks, Ty O'Neal |
I'm curious how long they last...
I was interested in one briefly, but decided it probably wasn't the right part for my intended application. Try searching on a few of the Corvette forums. I seem to remember a sponsor pushing the transmission kits, and I think few members might have posted feedback. Matt |
I had initially wanted the keisler kit, as for a while they were the only visible source of retrofit kits for the t--56
but now that I have looked around, there are many more sources, that are much cheaper, all you have to do is some research and legwork |

I had a Liberty modified T56. It was outfitted with dog rings in gears 1-4. With respect to the driving experience it would be similar to the Keisler kit, although the Keisler kit will definitely handle more power, because my Liberty trans used stock gears. Here are my impressions from day one.... http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/manual...ertys-t56.html Andrew |

Anyways, other t56 sources Hurst Driveline http://www.hurst-drivelines.com/inde...d=47&Itemid=56 Weir Hot Rods http://www.weirhotrodproducts.com/index.html D&D performance http://www.ddperformance.com/ American Powertrain http://www.americanpowertrain.com/ |

And here is yet another:

The only T-56 'dog ring' transmissions that are marketed here in the USA (and for the most part, available)... are the boxes from Rockland Standard and Keisler.
The Aussie's have a few as well... but they are only rated at around 500hp max... and run about $1k for a single rebuild, which happens more than anyone would want to run in a street chassis. |

This still has Synchronizers where as the Road and Track doesn't. Here is a specific link to the product. I probably should have posted this to begin with. I hope this helps Identifying the transmission easier. http://www.keislerauto.com/recent-ne...k-6-speed.html Thanks, Ty O'Neal |
I'd also be interested in some feedback on the R/T-56. Haven't really heard much about it since it was released, especially now that Keisler is marketing their RS transmissions so heavily.

Croaker: As things move forward, I will certainly give you impressions pro and con. I think the RS Products are their bread and butter line. They will probably sell a a lot of them, whereas the Road and Track I believe to be more of a niche gearbox, at least for street cars. The RS products look really nice, in fact I almost picked one up for this vette, however I had already bought the Road and Track (Which I already bought for the Camaro) and since I had it sitting in a crate I figured I'd go ahead and put it in. It might stay, or it still may go in the Camaro. If necessary, I could always go with a T-56 Magnum, or one of the 5 speeds Shafi offers. I heard real nice things about the RS line. Ty |
To ALL;
Is there anymore information about the T-56 Dogbox put out by Keisler? I haven't seen much in a while so I figure there has to be more information out there. Any contributions would be very appreciated. I have also read somewhere that there is a company making an electronic shifter that will allow "Flat Upshifting", and "Auto Blip" Down Shifting. Anyone have any experience with these devices? Thanks, Ty O'Neal |
