GEN II 70-78 Camaro gauge mounting solutions from New Vintage
As promised, here is the GENII 70-78 Camaro gauge mounting solution we have been working on. The package mounts 2 3-3/8” gauges and 4 2-1/16” gauges in the stock location, retaining the stock turn signals switches and dash panel. The laser-cut and formed mount bolts to the factory mounting screws. The bracket is formed to follow the countour of the original dash.
The only thing left to do is find a donor vehicle to test fitment and decide what to do with the stock shift indicator area. We have considered using one of our indicator panels in there to fill the void. Looking for input there. Thanks, look foreword to any input Mark Pricing for the basic mount should be around $100.00 http://inlinethumb27.webshots.com/48...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb15.webshots.com/32...425x425Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb46.webshots.com/46...425x425Q85.jpg |

gauge panel
Yes definitely try NastyZ and also Team Camaro. You should have a lot of interest on both of those sites. You might also be asked if you have, or will have, anything available for the later 2nd gen dash.

Try nastyZ28. I think that looks great.

Thanks guys,
just to let you know this is not a stock replacemet but a mount to install our aftermarket and custom gauges in the stock location. That way you can keep the stock plate that actually fits and retain the controls. You can run any of our 3-3/8 and 2-1/16" gauges. Ill have to se what it takes to be a sponsor over there Mark |
I like it, mostly because I am working on a 5.3 swap in my 1976 camaro and could benefit from something like that.
Right now I plan on using factory guages and a cable x controller to convert the signal to my stock cable driven speedomenter. Is there anyway you could make the shifter opening accept the stock shifter indicator? Looks like there is plenty of room. I'm am using a 4L60e in my car and have already bought the OD shifter adapter kit with the center mount indicator. I would like to try and keep that if all possible |
interest
Well I threw a link on nastyz to this thread. Check out the interest over there in only few hours.

YES......please make this. And in the shift indicator area put blinkers (one above the other, arrows) a neutral light, a high beam light and park brake light.
I will buy one when they are ready. And gauges too. Thanks jorgensen, I found the link on nastyz. |
Hi Guys,
I think that the stock shift indicator can be installed or we can install a custom indicator panel: http://inlinethumb08.webshots.com/43...425x425Q85.jpg Right now the hold up is we need to get a car in our shp for final fitment. |
Mark Put me down for one. Here is my e-mail so I can get you payment information as this is exactly what I am looking for.

Good talking with you today. Keep me posted

Sounds like we have a donor car coming this week from JH Restorations in Windsor. Once we have the car it will be a week or two before we finish the fitment and do all of the photography

Ok guys,
Here is a pic of the final parts. We will have them on sale ext week. The packages will be available with and without an indicator panel. We were able to integrate one of our 7-lamp indicator panels into the factory center PRNDL window and it has icons for signals, hi beam, brake, and some extras. Pics on those as son as the parts are printed. These wil only be available as a kit with NVU gauges, we have the panels that will fit 3-3/8 speedo/tach and our 4-3/8" speedo/tach. Both sizes work out pretty well Base part without indicator will be $99 up-charge on a set of gauges, with indicator $149. Here is a pic with our Performance Line 4-3/8 speedo/tach http://inlinethumb55.webshots.com/48...500x500Q85.jpg |

Everything looks great. I'm still bummed about not being able to just buy just the bracket. What if a customer already has quages and hates how they are mounted in his car with a plastic or home made panel. I thought your solution was great and allowed people to buy a great new product. I do understand that it's a selling point for your product line. Just think how many guys out there who already have guages they are potential customers that would for sure be willing to spend a couple hundred bucks on a quality product. It sure would offset some of your R&D costs which have to be huge. Heck who knows you could be the next big thing in Custom Guage Mounts. I sure know this industry needs a solution like yours. |
I've got the gauges, I ended up doing them this way with a Covan panel I textured and using the instrument panel that came with the bracket . I still have the bracket, but not using it at the moment.

I used the housing supplied by new vintage and the led's were already glued in. My kit came with a vertical lens and they sent me a horizontal lens free of charge so I guess there was a different layout between the two ...I've since swapped the colors around so it looks "normal". The check engine is amber and the brake light is red now. http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps87f37f12.jpg |
