HPI Customs 1969 Roadrunner Project
HPI Customs does a Mopar! One of our customers picked up this 69 'Runner at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale last year...... not so nice.:bang: Again.
Here is the glamor shots of when he got the car. Before we looked close. http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/...psab0ef690.jpg http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/...ps299470a1.jpg http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9ff7d1f8.jpg http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0469ae03.jpg http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8d1bad50.jpg |
So we were pretty busy with our move and didn't have time to start rust repair for 6 months or so on this project, so he got another shop to do the panel replacement. (Long story, didn't wait for us) Unfortunately, it was a bit over their head and the job was lacking a bit, so we have to pick up the pieces there but none the less, its time for the build.
Pretty much just the roof and pillars, rear deck panel, trunk lid, and tail panel are left from what he bought. The rest is replaced. Since it will never be a perfect restoration and it was only a 383 etc, (and we are not big fans of stock) we decided to just have some fun with it! The plan was just to do a driver, so the budget didn't let us start with renderings etc, but it has evolved since. Please excuse the messy unfinished new shop in the background of these pics. Car has now got a 6.1 Hemi, American Powertrain T56 Magnum kit, dual clutches, lightweight flywheel, oh and did I mention twin STS turbos??? Something fun we wanted to try. I know its not as glamorous as front mounted hair dryers, but still fun. Suspension is Control Freak all around, we are now dealers for their stuff and let me tell you, if its not a GM and you need suspension, this stuff is a pretty nice option. The fit was great and they are nice to deal with. Entry level Wilwood Dynapro brakes, car will have 18 x 12s in the rear and some killer rubber. |

Love the B bodies

You know whats crazy Cris? We did this roadrunner, back from paint now, and then a 73 Duster, which I will post later, and we are starting a killer protouring 71 Challenger Convertible. Who knew people would want to modify Mopars???
|
We ended up with Challenger Buckets, had to make custom floor pans to drop them enough but it turned out ok because its a big car.
http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/...psca9d6986.jpg just a few mockup shots http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/...ps63a157c6.jpg http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1c5c1d67.jpg |

|
Love your beadwork. Great idea for inner fenders and radiator cover..
More pics.. |
Tyler....post #3, I recognize that fat ass car in the background. When are you going to finish the new website so I can see more of the 70 Chevelle. Also I want a hpi frame kit can I have one for free..lol
Ryan Austin |
That fat ass car is at upholstery. So pics soon. And video LOL. I am working on the site. On top of building the cars, turns out I had to do the site myself because finding someone that wants to build you a site for less than 5 grand seems impossible!
The first run of the revised chevelle kit is happening monday so get on the list if you want one! |
Ok I'm on the list lol...what's different? Do you have pics of the new kit and how much?
|
Very nice engine bay work.
|
Really like what you've done so far. It's also great seeing more Mopars get heavily modified.
|
Great Mopar project. Love the twin turbo 6.1!
