67 Nova update by Goolsby Customs

This Nova came to us a few weeks ago by a good friend of ours over in Atlanta. Overall the car was pretty decent with an LS7 and 6-speed , but the suspension , interior and obviously the paint job was a little dated, so we will be doing a few updates to all of those and make this Nova a great driver that will hopefully turn some heads in the process. Plans include , DSE Quadralink rear with new 9", coilover conversion for front , Big Wilwoods all the way around, new wheels and tires, shave drip rails, handles, gas fill, wipers, cowl vents, rear tail panel, and some custom dash work followed up by some carpet and seat work by M and M Interiors, along with some minor repairs and upgrades along the way.

The old 9" and Cal Tracks bars will make way for the new narrowed Moser 9" and DSE goodies

While we were under the car doing the rear supension we noticed the rear trans mount was solid with no bushing so we modified that to accept a bushing to reduce vibration transfer and be a little stronger with the new mount, nothing groundbreaking just some quick fab that anyone could do

Looks cool Josh!!! Keep the pictures coming!!! Oh and see if you can't get him to stretch that rear wheel opening !! The car looks so much better, the opening is just a little to small on those Novas

Ed.Capen 04-16-2013 12:16 PM

Josh and Jonathan, Looks cool what you have done so far.
What color is the car getting painted?
Ed

This one will not get a crazy amount of mods , to keep this under a budget, as well as no since in getting too carried away and overbuilding from the intended final use of the car..............now there is another Nova here at the shop that might be a slightly different story

214Chevy 04-17-2013 05:16 PM

With the wider rear tires, are new wheels in order? A sweet, new set of Forgelines perhaps?

tones2SS 04-17-2013 06:30 PM

These year Novas are growing on me. That is a going to be a nice build guys! Keep us posted.

HRBS 04-17-2013 08:17 PM

josh my good friend..... i think its time for someone to let you in on the fact thats a 67 not a 66 :mock:
lookin good buddy !

GoolsbyCustoms 04-17-2013 08:33 PM

Steve, my friend you are correct it is a 67 ..., I have absolutely no idea why I put 66 in the title , I would claim typo but probably just wasn't paying attention , what makes me mad is the huge build book that's sitting on my desk for this car that has "67 Nova" written in bold print across it ....oh and thanks for calling me out on it Haha:thankyou:

jh99 04-18-2013 08:02 AM

Nice looking build. Going to be an awesome car. I'm a fan of the 66-67s myself!

HRBS 04-18-2013 10:11 AM

we can let that one slide. but we need to talk further on the "other" thing we talked about.... LOL

back to this build.... i noticed you installed DSE tubs... did you not narrow the frame rail like they suggest or did you move it inboard ? if not what size tire did you mock up there ? i went flush to the frame rail on my shop nova and didnt narrow the rail and barely fit a 285 on an 11" wheel.

As far as the "other" thing just go for it , you might be done before us anyway , then you can say we copied you .........but Im trying to get the customer to OK me posting the rendering though , and then.........:warning:

On the tubs yes we narrowed the rails to the edge of the quadralink supports and filled the outer frame with the DSE supplied frame boxing plates, that and the narrowed 9" got us good clearance with a 305 on a 19x11 with a 5" BS

GoolsbyCustoms 04-19-2013 04:00 PM

The customer did not like the stock trim on the back and wanted to smooth it out a bit soo.....

Looks awesome

214Chevy 04-20-2013 06:05 PM

I like the new look of the tail section on the trunk. It's subtle changes like this, that makes you think that's how Chevy should have done it back in the day. By the way, y'all forgot to black out the license plate in the 2nd pic like all the rest. LOL!! :stirthepot: :lmao: :poke:

the 'SS' trunk diecast is 67 too. i doubt someone would go as far as swapping all those items to clone a 67. that trunk diecast is worth a very big shiney penny.

Darrell 05-14-2013 01:39 PM

Will you be selling the trunk molding, the piece that goes across the back of the trunk,if so I'm interested, thanks
