Keisler Hydraulic Clutch Kit
 

I seen a brand new in package kit for sale unopened from a TKO install that wasn't used, it has the hyd. throwout bearing, master cyl. firewall bracket and braided lines etc.. for a 69 Camaro would you stay away or go another route? Anyone with first hand experience with this kit, I believe it is the first style from 2005.

Greg this is a great kit that I have bought 4 of and think its the best one out there because it uses the firewall hole that your cltch rod went thru and you don't use a firewall bracket.Heres a pic of minehttp://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...ps13a4ceab.jpg

Here is a pic of the kit, it is different than yours, probably older version. I guess it is good. They have had issues with the throwout bearing on early versions I heard.

It looks a little different but my first one was about5 years ago and it was fine.

The pic you have is a McCleod clutch slave. Decent I guess if you set it up correctly_ I've seen a lot of them fail but I don't think they were properly installed. You def need to measure your clutch application height and there are different length pistons you can buy to set up the slave to match your clutch specs.

The slaves I've been buying from Keisler since about 08 are these. We custom machine the spacers to set them up on the TKOs and on the T56s we machine the front cover to accept them. They are an OE slave that is bulletproof!

thanks for the compliments guys and you are right you need to measure correctly and use spacers if needed,I think about all of mine ended up using 1/4" spacers and the clutches worked fine.

OP, I had the same kit in your pictures.

I did not like it since it put all of the stress on the firewall. That part if the firewall is not very stiff. Mounting the MC on the bracket is IMO superior since it bolts to the pedal hanger and does not stress the firewall. The other problem is that is uses the CNC sourced master that leaks after about 20 minutes.

Mcleod makes a nice kit now that uses a Wilwood MC and uses the bracket.

Easy solution... Build a firewall reinforcement plate. Simple to do with a piece of at least 1/8" steel, a grinder, and a welder. Shape out a nice panel to fit the shape of your firewall where the clutch master mounts... tie in to any structural supports you have nearby, I.e. pedal support... Your choice on whether to paint it up pretty and put it on the outside of the firewall or if you build it into the inside you can weld it into the firewall to make it look more original. You would be surprised how many people do add a hydraulic clutch without some type of reinforcement.

We use a Wilwood 3/4" clutch master with the slave in the pics above and the throw is perfect. With correct pedal leverage you end up with a late model clutch pedal feel.

Should I replace the CNC master with a Wilwood master? I guess it could be replaced if the original failed.

The CNC master as in the kit has a flange welded onto it. Yes I'd replace it.

The bracket and tilton adaptor are a smoking deal, and allow you to use a standard non-customized master that can be replaced easier than the Keisler modified CNC master.

Going with a standard aftermarket configuration like the tilton will allow easy customization of MC bore.

Seeing that DSE stuff, I would have gone that way rather than modifying 4th gen stuff if it had been available when I did mine.
