$1,000,000 question!
I have read and spoke with a few different people. I am looking for a straight up, majority rules answer.
T-56, magnum, lgt-700, etc... Which one/manufacturer fits into a stock 69 Camaro, factory 4 speed car with console, WITHOUT doing any tunnel modifications or witchcraft necessary? Just looking for a bolt in and go product. I prefer to do mechanical clutch, unless someone can change my mind. Thanks in advance! I would love to hear answers from people who have already done this. |
If the car is lowered, the tunnel needs sliced for a t56 to do it right.

please explain. The engine and trans cross member stays in the same place whether its lifted 2" or lowered 3".
|
The Legend700 will fit without any cutting of the tunnel, done them already.

So you are correcting driveshaft angle by the tailhousing rather than changing the pinion angle on the rearend? This is the first I have heard of such.
|
It's the best way to achieve small working angles which will result in less driveline vibration with increased speed.
|
Or you can go CV joints on the driveshaft, instead of u-joints. Then most of your driveline angle issues will be solved.
|
I can possibly understand such with a leaf spring or non adjustable link car. But the correct way would be to adjust the pinion angle on the rearend, right?

If you have the ability to start fro scratch optimal placement is easy while factoring drive line angles. Most times trans tunnel modifications are necssary. Its either custom tunnel or custom headers and bell housing. And yes, final adjustment will be at the differential. |
