Let's see your Jacked Up Truck
I'm getting ready to lift my Tundra. I'm trying to figure out how much lift, tire, and wheel lip I want. Let's see your ride. Post your lift height, suspension manufacturer, wheel type and size, and back space if you have it. :popcorn2: Your impressions of the set up.

We'll first need to know how tall you are and how much money you want people to think you have....
Joking aside, are you planning on taking it into the desert or just running the streets? How about towing? A buddy has a real nice crew with a 2.5-3" with TRD rims and 34"-35"'s, still rides nice and gets him to all the alpine lakes and backwoods fishing holes. Try this and see whatcha like. https://www.tundras.com/threads/offi...ics-w-info.63/ Goodbye gas mileage  |

http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...pspi1xkqip.jpg Here are my two trucks. Both are 6 inch rough country lift kits with 35 inch Tires. My trucks were pavement princesses and the lifts were perfect for that. Both trucks had 3.73 gears so I only lost about 1-2 MPG. I also did not notice a huge difference in the ride quality. I have had trucks with 4 inch lift kits but I was never happy with that little of a lift. I think 6 inch is perfect. Both sets of wheels had 4.5 inch backspacing. I lift every truck I get. Jarrod |
Man, what a great thread you pointed me to. Thanks..
I don't care if they think I'm broke... |
2013 Ford Raptor:
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d1...sfkqrmuir.jpeg Stock suspension, front coilovers adjusted to mid-perch. 37x12.50x17" BFG AT KO2's. 17x8.5" Method NV's with 0 backspace. Extremely minor trimming on the inner fender and done. |
Here is my last lifted truck that I sold last year. It was an 05 with only 66k miles on it, I babied it. I had a 6" ProComp lift with 20x10 wheels and 35" mud tires. not a bad ride as lifted trucks go, but I'm done with lifting vehicles now, I'd rather have comfort as I get older, lol.

Gorgeous, Steve! I'd love to have a crew cab Sierra. If mine was 4wd, I wouldn't be looking to sell it.
Maybe in a few months I can add my new to me truck. I'm on the hunt for a 4 door Tacoma TRD Offroad. I plan to mainly just explore/overland so I only want a small lift. I'm thinking 3 inches. 31 or 32 inc tires at most. Todd, seriously consider what you want to do with the truck. If it's purely looks, go with what you like and can afford. If you have certain plans for the use of the truck, build for those plans. For instance, most overlanders will tell you not to deviate from stock much. It's simply not needed and will cause problems when away from home and the custom suspension pieces can't be purchased at the local parts store. I'm sure you realize all this considering you built one hell of a 69. I just figured I'd toss in my 2c as I'm in the middle of looking into all this myself. Old Man Emu suspensions are high quality, serious off road components and durable from what I understand. Good luck! Post pictures when you're done |
My Tundra back in the day with a 3.5" Icon lift. Since then I have had 2 F250's with the latest being this '14 Platinum with a Carli lift and Pure Performance 4 link. My only advice with lifts is you can do cheap but it will ride like crap. Lifting a 1/2 ton truck and 3/4 ton truck are a different ball game and more expensive for the good stuff but well worth it.

Good looking trucks fellas. I'm leaning towards a 2.5-3" lift from Old Man Emu up front and a 1" out back. I put one on my Jeep and it's been great. I daily drive my Tundra so I do want a reasonable ride and reliability. I pull my fishing boat to some remote locations, that's about as adventurous as I get due to having the Jeep. I do like the aggressive look of an off road/on road tire. I'm looking at the Toyo Open Country R/T. 33x12-20.

I'm sorry guys -- I had to chuckle a little bit --- all this lifting and big tires and not one of those appears to have gone anywhere near a dirt road....

I have no problem admitting I want a mall crawler and that my overlanding desires at this point are more overlanding light than anything else. |
Built this truck a few years ago, it was a daily driver for a about 2 years, then sold it to a local kid that HAD to have it.

I wasn't making fun of them really -- It's just that they were all so shiny and brand new looking! And with fancy wheels! Trust me -- it's a view from Idaho - where every truck is beat to crap / muddy / jacked up and beat up from hard off road use. LOL |

I decided on a 3/1 lift. Old man emu springs up front and shocks all four corners. Fuel maverick wheels with 33 x 12.5 -20's. It's nice and tight... The old girl turned out pretty damn nice. I figure it saved me about 45k on a new one...

Looks great Todd!!
Better hit the mall!! LOL I think on lifted stuff - a lot of folks think "if a little is good - more is better" -- and I think at some point it just makes your life miserable... Nicely done! |
I agree, the best lifted trucks are the ones that don't look lifted. You've accomplished that and it looks great.
I just had to spend a pile rebuilding my 6.0L powerstroke, but it runs like a new truck an I still have no payment, so a win in my book. |
