LS engine stand
 

Does anyone have one of these taking up space that they would like to sell? i figured this would be a good way to set up my bellhousing. Let me know

For that matter does anyone with some knowledge and ability. Know necessary measurements and angles for those of us who would like to build their own?

I have a couple sets of these, for sbc. My engine builder gave me a set, with my race engines. He had them built, and they were much lower to the ground, than these are. We ran shallow dry sump pans, so the height was perfect for transport, and storage.
Ryan, I am going to build my own for my LS , out of tubing, instead of square stock. Center the engine over the cradle, (feet) and you'll be fine. Angles don't matter, and cross bracing isn't needed. My race engines were cast iron block and head, and didn't have cross bracing. They held up beautifully. Get your height right for your oil pan, and your golden. Make sure the feet are about as wide as the outside of the valve covers. I never had wheels on mine...that would be nice to have.

Problem is Scott the engine is at the builders at the very bottom of the pile lol so to say ...and I haven't got a pan yet as its a ls7 and I'm converting to ls3 wet sump , not sure what pan to use ... I want to push the engine back as far as possible with major hacking of the firewall

These are simple enough to build
Just make them tall enough to clear any oil pan, then they can be used on any future engine

You could always start with engine mounting plates (like we use in off road sand rail builds), then build off them

I prefer the casters than screw in from bottom, so easily removed, to be more secure during transport, say in back of truck, etc

This was something I drew up real quick. I had the LS3 engine model, but internals are not there, so not sure where the center of gravity actually is. Figured legs the horizontal pieces near as long as the engine would be good. If you were storing it with the transmission, you would need to make them longer, & I would put a trans mount on it to for support on both ends.

You could buy a MotoFeet engine stand from us too :)

Personally these cradles are cheap enough to buy vs build your own. For me, by the time I drive to the store buy steel/measure/cut/weld; it's far cheaper for me in terms of time/money invested to buy them from Summit/SDPC etc...sp

Now if someone has spare square tubing on hand, that's different.

Hey awesome drawings , see for me it's the opposite, being a fabricator I can whip one up quickly while my motor is away and have it here for when it's done . Now I'm also Canadian so they "cheap" units are almost double the original price by the time its bought ,exchange rate, shipped ,duty .

There is also something to say for the fun of building something vs buying. Just another chance to perfect welding, smoothing, and painting skills1

Exactly , ...maybe tweet things just a touch for how you want it eg I might make mine with some bolt on extensions for when the tranny is bolted up

I have a set of the stands with casters, and they work well. If you do something like the drawings above, I don't know that I would connect the 2 sides. Easier to install and store if the sides are separate in my opinion, also don't have to be as 'exact' with the measurements. Just my $0.02...

Agreed. I'd leave the two halves seperate. Much easier to store.
