Camaro door hinge rebuild kit
Can anyone recommend a good door hinge replacement kit for a 68 camaro?
Also, I have seen some videos on youtube showing people only replacing the top hinge bushings, is this the norm or are they possibly just not showing replacement of the bottom? |
Just check with most of the aftermarket suppliers such a Classic indrustries

Got mine at Camaro Central: https://www.camarocentral.com/1968_1..._p/dwn-524.htm
I had a bodyshop put them on after watching install videos and not having the space in my garage, nor an extra person to help... best $250 I've spent in a long time. |
Thanks guys for the recommendations. I had Heard some kits were no good for some reason.
Do you guys do both the upper and lower hinges? |
I did both upper and lower with a kit. Its a 1979 Z-28 RS with power windows so you know they were worn out.

Good deal thanks.
Any tips on instilling them? I havent Really looked into it, I’m assuming just take the door off and change them or is there a more efficient way to do it? |
I'd replace both upper and lower pins and bushing if you have the doors off... the kits are cheap compared to time invested in replacing the old upper/lower in the near future.
Here is a video that shows the steps that I found: https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=jgrSA-gdjx4 |
It would be easier to have help doing it.

I am having the same kit that Adam listed above installed by a buddys shop. will let you know next month when I get the car back how they are. Both of my bottom rollers are messed up.
|
Is a rebuild better than buying aftermarket hinges? I have had good luck with the complete hinges.

Always chose a rebuild over new ones

Rebuild for me
After researching a ton on other forums, I sent my 67 Camaro factory hinges off to be rebuilt. If you google search HoodHingeRepair you'll find the shop I used in Virginia. Pretty decent turn around time, and the finished product looked good. I haven't rehung the doors, so I can't vouch for use or longevity.
I heard the home rebuild kits don't last long, and I didn't want to hang and gap doors that might sag or fail prematurely. The service wasn't cheap, but I think it's worth it IMHO. |
