69 C10 Pickup

I haven't posted on here in long while, but I have done a couple more cars so I figured I would share. I picked up this short box in Wyoming from a geologist I was working with. Truck was a one owner special order. It lived its whole life in Anaconda Mt until the son in law got it. He's a square body guy so he sold it to me. I bought the trailer too seeing as it was loaded on there so nice and pulled it home to MN. The pictures are huge, Ill update when I figure that out.

Body was OK, not really rusty at all. Bed floor and tailgate were hammered. I was really hoping to be able to remove the bad repaint and be left with decent orig color but no luck. Spent a lot of time with plastic razor blades and graffiti remover. There just wasn't enough left.

I did a new full floor, cab corners, rockers, and a new box. Plus a couple small patches. The new floors are so nice I had to do it.

All this metal came from The Bowtie Truck Stop in Sanborn MN.

I did a c-knotch and exhaust pass through on the frame before blasting and painting it. The frame is super clean, no pitting. The fuel tank is from Boyds Welding and uses a ZL1 fuel pump. I'm just about to the more fun parts. So far it's been all cutting, fitting, welding, blasting, and painting. Just making messes.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...581583721a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4b69ad6c40.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...7107c2d401.jpg

I rebuilt all the factory suspension and coated it with Steel-It paint (really good stuff). I converted the truck to 5 lug and used square body spindles and disc brakes up front. The rotors were branded Brembo and were 30 bucks at Rockauto. A set of decent KYB shocks, a rebuilt steering box from Blue Top and some 19/20 Halibrands round out the chassis. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...bfe5f89827.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...bb9d347bdf.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...24632ce020.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...59c14457eb.jpg

The motor is a 5.3 with gen 4 rods and forged pistons. I'm using the Summit Ghost cam, stainless LSA manifolds, Sts-v blower and a 150 shot of nitrous. A Holley Terminator runs it. Trans is a built 4l80e.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...22d9e56ea1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...65a8f1a8e0.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8b7ef0c6ad.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...fd6377e0f9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...675f505713.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4775c6f9c5.jpg

Looks like a fun project. Keep us updated.

I'm using an electric booster from a Chevy Bolt. The ac hardline patterns were sent to VA and came back perfect.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...e003bfa1dd.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...d4d57426dc.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...52d27b4022.jpg

I built the 2.5" stainless exhaust using mufflers from Hi-Flo in Michigan and tubing from MAP in MN. I sold my Miller and picked up a Prime Weld and so far it's been great. The reason for selling was I needed an AC machine for some future projects and my Miller was DC only. The TH400 in the picture was just a place holder while the 80e was being built.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2bd1c03bf9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...bba6f951f8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3a305f8d65.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...5de8ffac72.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2ce211e2c1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...d6ab9352b5.jpg

I made some covers out of aluminum and did a battery disconnect in the old fuel fill. It's wired to a 200 amp continuous duty solenoid. The pan in the interior covers the Holley system. It sticks to the carpet with Velcro. Works great.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...7ad03ab552.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...fa15e9bf3f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6c4f53df90.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...590aab3071.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...fec58740d4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...b367c09544.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...347c75d28a.jpg

Very nice work!

Love what you're doing. The engine looks fantastic and clean.
Where did you get the exhaust hangers from? MAP? I'm not familiar with them. I'm hoping to use similar hangers with my squarebody. Keep up the great work! |

This is where I am at currently. The body is in epoxy primer. I'm having a heck of time finding a body shop to paint it, they are all very busy. I had the seat done to mimic the original. He wrapped the dash, visors, and headliner too. I think I'll continue to assemble and just have fun with it as is. Paint will wait I guess.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8bda14b2cb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...63c9819a52.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1366e46b32.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...fc6a1ca746.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8de3e9a8c4.jpg

Thanks for the lead on the hangers.
Where in the world did you come across the blower from an STS-v? That's a rare car. Love the green paint. I believe it's similar to this? https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...-c10-pickup-4/ |
Cool truck!
|
I'm loving the original look of the interior.

I've always liked the color too, its GM 503 green. I'm hoping to get it in the paint shop next year. |

The truck had a nasty bark like exhaust note. Added some resonators from Flowmaster and took care of all of it. Still noisy but pretty good .https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...be2b2c067d.jpg
