A-Body Suspension Rebuild
I need to buy a front suspension rebuild kit and would like to hear some recommendations of a company.
Should I go with Polyurethane Polygraphite or Rubber bushings? Thanks |
most popular suspension companies use a urethane or poly bushing in their components like http://www.p-s-t.com/

Do a search over on Team Chevelle.
For optimum results different bushings points, need a different bushing material or type of bushing. |
 The biggest thing to consider that most guys doing this dont is that the Poly Bushing will sqeek after time and the Rubber ones wont. Most of the companies dont mention this but if sqeeks bother you order what will be best overall for your application. They are both good in their own ways.

Rubber is overly compliant and poly won't allow any articulation in the rear, is prone to cold flow issues, squeaks (which is big time annoying over time), and still allows movement in critical areas.
Look into a Teflon derivative like Del-a-lum or seek out SC&C for their version. |
polygraphite wears out due to the graphite
polyurethane squeaks rubber is too soft So if i am diligent about greasing the bushings with the polyurethane I assume they wont squeak? I was looking at a kit from PST $419 for the super polygraphite front end rebuild kit http://www.p-s-t.com/pc-3786-30-chev...o-1964-88.aspx I read a bunch of stuff over at teamchevelle and could not come to any conclusion. Does polygraphite really deteriorate like I have heard? And if it has graphite wouldn't that stop the squeaks? |
I never had any luck with the graphite stuff...but I had a lot of miles on that build.
But you are correct, lube them good to start and they stay quiet. Energy suspensions has the lubing channel built into them to keep the lube evenly dispersed. |
