Primer after blasting
I'm picking up my car tomorrow after getting blasted. The guy that is going to prime had me pickup the primer and activator tonight. The primer is 2k acrylic urethane, would this be ok on bare metal and hold up for a year or two until I get the paint and bodywork done? Thanks for the help.

i use epoxy urethane from ppg myself it seals it as well

would the 2k acrylic urethane be ok on bare metal?

We normally use Dupont Vari-Prime on bare metal. It's pretty good stuff, bad nasty so wear a respirator.
|
PPG DP primer or a self etch primer 2K primer is to go on after one of these

If the surface is smooth and doesn't need sanded, we phosphate treat the metal to kill any rust left, then use etch-prime or DTM epoxy before 2K urethane primer.

Dustin: That doesn't sound like a good idea, your supposed to get, "Blasted", AFTER you've picked up your car.:unibrow: Ty |
use a good epoxy primer only, nothing works better, 2k is not ment for rust defending it is for build only, vari prime is ok but epoxy is the best.

I would like to give you a heads up about soda blasting, You will need to wash down the car with vinegar and water as soon as you get it back to remove a the soda from the metal. If you don't you will have adhesion problems down the road. We wash them down then 80 DA all the panels before we epoxy prime.
