Budget rear disk with a 9"...?
 

I was planning on using a 8.5" 10 bolt for my car ('68 Camaro), but I ran across a 9" that is the correct width for me with my positive offset C5 wheels.

I was planning on running the '93-97 F-Body rear disc set up on the 10 bolt which is a direct bolt on upgrade for any 10 or 12 bolt rear end. I know that the brackets will not match the 9" ends.

Before anyone tells me to call Willwood, Baer, Currie, Strange and buy their system remember that I want a budget set up if there is one out there for the 9" rear.

I am running 98-2002 F body disc on my 9" in a first gen camaro. My axle guy welded a flange on the axle that directly adapted it to allow the GM housing to bolt on. I am running C5 rear rims with no adapters.

Totally budget and looks/works great.

Here is a pic of the first rough fit of the axle to the car.

NOTE-the LS1 4th gen brakes are 12" and they use the mini drum brake for the parking brake system.

Ford Explorer rear discs bolt up with almost no modifications. Of course they are the wrong bolt circle so you need to re-drill the wheels. I think even to buy all the stuff new is only 400.00. A wrecking yard package should come in under 250.00.

I sent you an email for more details soncerningt the measurements of your differential. I am using Stock C5 wheels too on my '68 so the measurements would be invaluable concerning wheel/tire fitment in the stock wheel houses.

No worries.

Just for the record you need to add 2.5" to each side of your stock length (this is to the hub/disc face where the tire bolts on) to achieve the correct C5 rear wheel offset.

On a 69 Camaro you will also have to trim a tad in the wheel house lip to avoid rubbing.

just thought i'd let you know, i have a completely new explorer disc brake set up on my currie 9" rear that havent been used. they have the correct bolt pattern and everything from currie, 4.75x5 for A-bodies, but since i am switching to baer brakes i'll let you have them for 150
