Sub frame connector install?
 

I was attempting to install my subframe connectors the bolt in type, and I found that it is hitting in couple spots on the floor pan. My first thought was to get a rubber mallet and give it a couple wack's. Is there a better way to make a couple indentions. It's for my 69 bird. Thanks in advance.

If you want to control it a little better than just hammering the floor, lay a piece of pipe or wood against the floor and hit that. This will make for a nicer indention and be a little easier on the floor.

Or use a floor jack and press it up into place, if possible. That way you don't leave hammer marks.

Thank's I was looking for something better then the ol hammer. I thought about the floor jack, but thought maybe it would push up and make a very large dent. I'll go back rethink things. I already painted my bottom so I'm trying to minimize the paint damage also. Thanks for the replies.:thumbsup:

That's a great idea Matt! I'm sure it doesn't need much...otherwise I would call that a problem with the product!

Hope you didn't use POR15. Got that stuff on my fingers one time and took weeks to get it off! Hate to have it on my butt!!

LOL, well I did use por 15 and I had it every place except for my butt. It's been about a 1 1/2 yrs now and I think it's finally off me by now:lol:

Whose bolt in connectors are you using?

I went with Competition Engineering, only because I have an aftermarket subframe and they would fit w/o any fab work.

Well, I finally got the subframe connectors bolted up. Not direct bolt in, had to oblong some holes and also shim the connectors where they connect to the leaf spring cup/perch (not sure what its called). The directions want you to sandwich the connectors under the cup/perch but for some reason I had a 1/4 inch gap on one of the mating surfaces. I had to add a couple washers to make up the gap. I'll try and take some pic's.
I'm still icing the lump on my forehead from dropping a part on my head and also working out the kinks in my neck from being layed out on my back for so long.LOL:D
