68 Camaro Subframe Alignment help

So I tried test fitting my LS1/T56 into my 68 camro and the tranny was off to one side in the trans tunnel. Looks like it could scoot over about 2 inches. Could this be because my subframe was not aligned when I put it back on the body?

Anyone know how I can line this thing up without having to tow it over to a frame shop?

Thanks!

John, I think you should stop now and let me buy the car...o crap I already have one:_paranoid

anyways enough with the peanut gallery-

center subframe bolts (2) - out of the six- have alignment holes that line up with the cowl- look close you'll see 'em have fun- Chris

did you change your engine frame mounts? Your car was a BB right? IIRC Bigblocks sat to the right 2" to clear the steering box.

Steve,
I sold the BBC stands and replaced them with SBC stands.

Jake,
Not quite sure what you mean. Is the tunnel on the floor not center in the car or should my tranny be off by 3/4 ?

the tunnel in the camaro is 3/4 of an inch off center, if you measure you will find the tunnel is offset if i remember right to the passenger side.
so yes if you measure pinch weld to pinch weld, the tail shaft will be 3/4 off of dead center, but thats fine as the tunnel is offset anyway
