Lateral-g Forums - Important G Bar, G Link, G Billet news.

So there was some confusion last week about the new G link, fitment of G Links in mini tub applications. At one point last week I had all my MINI TUB G Link orders on hold because we thought they were not going to work in mini tub applications. And as they were going to be packaged, they were not going to fit. So my sales rep suggested I should meet with Chris himself to try and figure something out. Well, it took a few hours in the afternoon, some good Italian food and cocktails till the wee hours after the show. But we have it all figured out. The G bar solution was right in front of us. Chris and I had been thinking about it and basically had the same idea.

So here was the problem.The lower arm is real beefy (badd ass BTW), much thicker then the original G bar, and was causing some tire clearance issues on mini tub cars. Also, the lower shock mount was designed so that the car can be adjusted to have a real low ride height, but to do this the lower shock mount was also interfering with the tire.

The solution is:

Soooo, Early next week I will be getting a complete system sent to us, G Link, Sway Bar, bolt in housing package. I will be installing this kit in my mini tub street racer. Chris is going to machine me up some bushings so we can offset the lower arms inboard in the front spring pocket. Then on the bolt in housing, Chris is going to have the lower link brackets / shock mount tack in place moved in 3/4" or so. Then we can final weld if it all fits or move it a teeny if we have to. The end result should actually give more clearance in the end then the old system, and solve both problems. So we are going to install the G Link and work with Chris direct on making sure fitment is exact. Once we have it in the car and working, we can then add some parts numbers specific for mini tub applications including a number for the housing with moved lower link mounts, and also for a shorter sway bar to match.

If you already have a rear that you are going to use, you will have to use weld on brackets and move them inboard 1/2" to 3/4" (we will figure that out). But in a mini tub application ONLY the leaf spring adapter will not work with mini tub. You must use the weld on lower bracket or buy a ready housing.

So G Bar / G Link / G Billet for NON mini tub applications are already shipping. If your wanting one for a mini tub application you are going to have to wait until I get one in my own car and test fitted. Which is a good thing anyway.

We hope to have everything installed by January 1. I will cover the install on the forum, and soon as I give Chris the thumbs up on fitment he will make production pieces and start shipping our mini tub orders a few weeks later at most.

Also, once we get these mini tub kits shipping, Chris and I are going to work together to test some different sway bars for both handling and drag race applications. Testing to see if 2 different bars would improve each scenario. This is interesting stuff with lots of tun ability.

But I must tell you that after seeing the product and talking with Chris last night, I think it is well worth waiting for. And we are honored to be trusted on this final R and D and testing of this product.
