Help choosing LS engine
 

So I was thinking about getting a Mast Motorsports LSX454 but I started thinking about it more and I really want the car done some time in the next few years. Although it looks like a sweet motor and I would love to have it, it would run me $16500 without pulleys and accessories. I can buy alot for that kind of money. I was looking at the new GM Performance catalog and see they have a new LS3 that puts out 480hp and it's just under $6500. I was searching for aftermarket stuff for the engine as I really want to be over the 500hp mark. I couldn't find much for it. This brings me to my question....of the LS crate engines, which ones have the most aftermarket power addons? I see alot for the LS1, LS2 and LS6. When I do get the engine, I want one with the the LS1 style intake. My goal is to get a crate engine around 5 or 6k and get some addons to put me over the 500hp mark. Unfortunately I don't have the funds right now, so I'm trying to plan ahead. I know nothing about LS engines so any information would greatly help and be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Call Frank at Prodigy he just got he hands on some sweet motors in the LSX family.

You could sneeze on an LS3 or LS2 and make over 500hp.

I still think the best "bang for the buck" in new crate engines would be an LS2 with a cam.

I made well over 500 (560hp) with an LS2, AFR heads, COMP cam (232/234 112) and FAST intake.

I haven't messed with an LS3 yet but the intake and heads (GM) are great and you could easily up the cam and make over 500. Just do some research since camshaft selection is more critical due to the huge intake valves in the heads.

I bought this LS2 with L92 heads, cam, ecu,harness ect for 6300.00 shipped BTW that was with a different cam/spring package.

what kind of power is it making after the stroke change, and did you go to a bigger cam than the one in the above post?
