2nd gen camaro rear suspension
 

Trying to get a consensus on the best (or second best!!) rear suspension, after DSE, that will allow for a mini tub install. I am looking for something that will perform almost as good as the DSE suspension. Money is not as important as is ease of installation. Let me know what ya'll think. Thanks in advance for your help.

For me its BMR Fabrication, I sell a ton of it and install a ton. WE have it on project Freedombird and on my personal shop car "shop beater v.3.0". For ease of install,handling, and price point it doesn't get much better than a Torque arm rear suspension with a watts link setup. The BMR unit is very easy install, about 4 hours, and allows tons of setup changes. Units designed to work with 9" (requires welding), and 10 bolt and 12 bolt specific bolt on units. the bolt on units require no welding!!! shoot me a PM or email for pricing

Do you have any pictures of a car with the BMR setup that has an exhaust routed? I am considering this setup, but I have concerns about what I would get into trying to get an exhaust through there. I don't recall seeing pictures of the Torque Arm / Watts Link / exhaust yet.

I have some pics of this setup on file. Hope this helps. I am not sure of the brand or size of the exhaust.

Next to the DSE setup I would use the Jakes Rod shop torque arm. He tests all of his suspension on the track and it requires little modification in order to install.

Thanx, those were helpful. Don't suppose you have any info on the wheel/tire size on this setup? Looks like the tire could get pretty close to the rear pipe depending on the width tire used...

I'm glad someone posted that setup with exhaust run. I was worried that there wouldn't be enough room to route the pipes. I'm not a fan of under the rear exhaust. Does anyone know how big the pipes are? I wanted to run 3" exhaust all the way out. Lee @ BMR told me that it will be tight but should be able to be done. Thanks for posting the photos.

Thats Lee's car from BMR! He is running 2.5" exhaust. Believe the car is also not mini tubbed. 3" is possible, all depends on ride height. Room runs out above the axle once you go lower. Its possible for sure, will just take some time, some brains, and some creative skills. We have the exhaust dumped before axle on both my car and Freedombird. The bird is getting all new exhaust again with 2.5" to try and clean it up and get is all the way back.

I don't want to do dumps, it just resonates in the car too much. I was wondering if you could narrow the fuel tank just enough to route the pipes past the tank? I could run 2.5" pipes, I don't think there would be too much power loss between 2.5" and 3" pipes. I like the fact that BMR is right here local to me and they do make good stuff. I used their stuff on my 96 Camaro SS.

Is there more or less room under the rear of a 2nd Gen Camaro? I'm talking about near the gas tank area where the tail pipes would route through.

All the way back via over the axle or under the axle is possible. Time ran out on Freedombird, but is being redone with all new 2.5" pipes and tails out the back in the next couple of weeks. My car is dumped, it ungodly loud anyway, and for now it suits me. I'll end up taking mine all the way back when I have a chance.

Getting full tails on the car by going over the axle is doable, gonna take some time and creative thinking, but for sure doable!:cheers:
