Hi, found this forum recently, or someone in nastyz28 adviced to ask about something from here.

Let me introduce my project(s) and what have i done so far. Gues little different what you guys have used to but bare with me.

First one is 1978 Camaro, i have driven Drifting at pretty serious level for five years now, allways with vintage cars (european) but decided that i want something different. From cars and about driving itself. I did Camaro that way that i can drive also track races in Historic Race Finland series called Roadsport V8, car was originally builted to that class and i did rather minor modifications it to use it at Drifiting, so itīs easy to convert between races.

More info about Roadsport series -> http://www.historicrace.fi/indexe.htm

I did drove only Drift season last summer, car was still little uncomplete and didnīt want to rush things.

Video footage from last Drifting season.

Engine fitted, LS3 engine did sit IMO nicely in place with original LS3 vette oilpan, sits low and far back, nearly mid engined Gearbox tunnel had to be remanufactured. 4gen pacesetter exhaust manifolds did fit rather easy in place, little bending ang cutting but couple hours of labour.

Will be posting updates when project moves along, i will be doing basically suspension and steering mods for next season, and brake upgrades for track racing. For steering i am going for rack, and need to get wheels to turn much more. Selfmade control arms and some other cars spindles are THE plan, maybe from MK4 Supra, would get some descent brakes for bonus then.

For rear iīm gonna ditch the leaf springs, somesord of 4-link setup is major plan, other option is some modern car IRS + diff. Iīm not afraid of little custom job or cutting the body. But iīm open suggestions about rear modifications.

Nice ride, interesting body to use too. Most drifters like bodies you can easily get replacement parts for but more power to you.

there's a couple closet drift guys in here but not to many.

Why not stick with the leafs. My understanding is you need a beefy rear suspension...ie type that doesn't bend easily and has has a relatively low roll center.

Either way you go please keep us updated.

I assume that i can get more traction with 4 links, would be lighter and most important easier to setup for different tracks, when leafspings own sprinrate and damping action mess coil-overs setup a bit. Alltough with IRS setup it would be better when entering normal track races.

Now i have few leafs removed from packs and coilovers with relatively soft springs, i can setup overall springrate to correct(ish) level thatway, changing springs to coilovers.

Leafsprings doesnīt make setting shock absorbers that easy, since they have their own ability to do that.

Roll center, i donīt understand much about that area.

And sorry if my english sucks a bit, iīm from Finland. Hope you understand all...
Bodyparts, those are relatively cheap comparing to Jap cars, many guys drive JDM cars in here, when you need something in those, it sucks. And iīve allways wanted to do these things litlle different than everyone else, makes also easier to get sponsors.

Got you, I forgot the detail that you wanted to use the car for different raing formats.

Checkout Heidts, they have a nice IRS system

For Early Camaro Spindle Conversion
# Combine these Steering Arms with an Early Camaro Spindle or our Drop Spindle and Remove up to 13 Additional pounds!
# Allows Excellent Bump Steer Adjustability.

So whit what spindles are these supposed to be used? 1gen or early 2gen?
