LS1 clearance issues

I am running into a clearance problem. I need to cut off 1 of the squares from the sides of the block. The LS1 has 3 on each side right at the bottom of the block and just above the oil pan.I need to remove the one on the drivers side closes to the front of the block. That 1"x1" x0.5" cube is stopping me from having room for my rack banjo fittings to fit in there.Do these squares have any purpose and can I trim down one of them. :_paranoid
Thanks in advance.
Steve

I am pretty sure you would be ok to remove or clearance one. They look like extra casting to me, they are not tapped or anything, and are in between the side main cap bolts, so I don't think you should have an issue.

Just don't do what one of the teams did for the Holley LSfest challenge, NO HAMMERS!!!!

anyone else know about these LS1 blocks?

I remember that the instructions for the APS twin turbo LS kits mentions that the rear one by the starter may have to be removed or reduced to clear their exhaust manifold. I do not think it is an issue to clearance them.
