Electric Water Pump?

Question for the Pros...is an electric water pump, Meziere etc., worth the expense...$500 or so? This would be for a dual purpose street/track car so I want it to work equally well doing both. I'm spending a boatload on HP right now and read you gain 10hp due to less parasitic loss.

What do you guys think?

Leave it GM....10hp isn't worth the potential trouble.

There's a very good reason you can go to a car show - and look at 1000's of cars - and maybe 1 will be running an electric pump... and that will be the trailer queen '41 Willys... that's never been anywhere - ever....
:D

Totally agree.

The mechanical water pump is a pretty hardy design. They don't fail very often, and in the grand scheme of things if you really need that extra little power, design it in somewhere else.

If you switch to electric, you not only need to worry about electrical issues not only causing overheat issues due to electric fan failures, but then ALSO that you'll not even be recirculating water.

The other thing you'll need to figure out is accessory brackets. They pretty much all assume you're running an OEM type water pump, so no matter what you do you're fabricating all your brackets.
