How do I wire the bolts on my brakes?
Hey guys, I am wanting to get my brakes put together for mock up and I was wondering if you guys wire only two bolts at a time or wire them all together? I found this picture of Rich's Wilwoods on his 69, looks like he wired two at a time.
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...Picture186.jpg I have the same set up as Rich, and the Wilwood instruction sheet shows the way he did it. I thought I have seen it done the other way too, am I mistaken? wouldn't it be better if they are all together? Thanks, |
Either way is fine, four at a time has no benefit over two, other than maybe looks. Just my opinion though

I do 2 at a time.

it makes no difference if you do 2 or all of them except when you screw up, how many you have to redo. the trick is to properly wire it as there was a thread on pt.com recently over this very thing where a customer showed poor wiring technique by a shop. he promptly fixed it himself much better than the shop did it the first time.

I've always done two at a time... the wire really isn't HOLDING anything - it's just there to not allow a bolt to back out...

Wiring in pairs is much easier than a series.
Note that properly done the wire holds tightening tension against it's partner. |
