Hydraboost or Elec Vacuum Pump?
 

Going to require a vacuum "assist" solution in trying to avoid sharing the MAP sensor vacuum source with the booster in my 4th gen fbody. Kinsler HIGHLY suggests in order to keep the MAP "quiet" I need to dedicate sourcing the intake vacuum and brakes/steering seperately. Because I'd rather not compromise either in terms of performance, does anyone have experience with either? I heard Elec Vac Pumps can be noisy and unreliable....thoughts? Sources for either?

Ask anyone with a Grand National about what they think of electric vacuum brake pumps. My buddy replaced two and then gave up and drives his without one. He's going over to Hydra boost.

Personal opinion Shube....hydroboost done right will remind you to wear seat belts for facial protection. Not sure who the leader is for fourth gens, but Hydratech is a leader in old car retrofits:

Hydroboost...if you've got a questionable vacuum situation, I'd just remove it from the equation.

It doesnt make sense to put those big 'ol binders up front without them making your nose bleed when you gotta stop right?

There is no doubt that hydroboost will give you more than enough power to lock up the front wheels, but how do you want the pedal to feel? I've heard hydroboost setups have a "light" pedal feel. Maybe that is something someone else can elaborate on. Personally, I like good ol' fashioned manual brakes, when they're done right.

Really, you just have to figure out what is right for you based on you intended purpose for the car, etc.

I ordered my hydroboost unit from Jim @ Hydratech for my 3rd gen F-body (with show-prep) and It looks really good. Jim's a good guy to deal with as well.

Regarding pedal feel, Hydroboost has a phenomenal feel.
You can actually feel the pedal "talk" to you- takes a little to get used to, we use 'em all the time and customers are elated!

Factoid: most all brake systems put about 800psi to the calipers/pads, Hydroboost systems give about 1200psi. That equates to 50% better braking pressure :thumbsup:
