T56 Magnum reliability with dual disk clutch

I've read/heard more than once that the stock syncros in the t56 don't last long with a dual disk clutch due to the additional rotating weight they have to deal with. Has anyone been running a t56 with dd clutch and had any problems? Rockland says I'll need their trans if I want to run a twin disk.

I've run my T-56 magnum with a dual disk clutch for almost three years now and have no issues. Started with an aluminum flywheel and now running a lightened steel piece from Centerforce. I would hazard to guess that the dual disks that I have run have been lighter than stock so I don't know if that's a legit justification but I am not sure.

While it's true that the larger the diameter of the disc is spinning outside the centerline of the crank the more work it takes the synchros to slow down and cause havoc on the synchros, i personally think its a sales pitch to sell a umpteen thousand dollar transmission. Thousands of people use twin disc units on T-56's from 93-02 camaros and 2003-04 cobra's all the time.

My newish Mustang has a tr6060 with a dual disk clutch from the factory, if that says anything. I've been running the same clutch James has for the last year in my Camaro, and no issues either.

:_paranoid :_paranoid :_paranoid :_paranoid ...yeah I just bet you absolutely, positively, cannot drive your car without theirs. :unibrow: :unibrow: While Rockland does make a good tranny, no doubt, but the stock T56 magnum will do just fine with a twin disc. Although I haven't driven mine yet, I'm running mine with a dual disc Ram clutch.
