MAP connector problem
This is puzzling me... maybe another in the long line of dumb questions, but what's wrong with me on this one? When I went to plug in the MAP sensor, the thing won't go in. So I pull it off and it sure looks like the metal plugs are both female... You'd expect one side to be male and fit in the female connector on the other side. What's wrong with me? :goofy:

Very hard to tell, but make sure you have the correct MAP sensor (not maf!). 1 bar (naturally aspirated) has one plug and 2 and 3 bar is another. The difference is in the little slots cut in the sides/tops of the plastic connector surrounding the pins. They make them different so you don't mix them up.

BTW, the wiring harness and the MAP are both from the RamJet 502 crate motor, so I would think they should go together. Hmm.

They should for sure. Let me go look at mine I can't remember if the harness is male or female.

Both of the ones I have are male on the harness and female on the map sensor.

Hmm, weird. Maybe I got a defective plug on the harness. The small metal tubes that make up the plug on the harness side look like they're slotted - maybe I can bend them to a point so they fit... :(

I'm thinking they screwed up and put female connectors instead of male. You should swap them out, not overly difficult with the right crimpers. There's a tool that looks like a screwdriver with what appears like a female tube on the end that slips over the connectors and releases the tangs that hold it in the plastic connector. I've also taken them apart with a small screwdriver.

get another map to see if they are the same . you will see that they are not . good luck.
