recommendations for F1 at COTA?

I'm thinking about going this year. I know a number of people from Lat-G went last year, so I'm looking for suggestions. Where to stay/best seats (is GA adequate)/any other tips. I'd be flying from California so I assume renting a car would be mandatory although it looks as if they run a shuttle service to the race track. Did anyone go all three days? I've never been to Austin either so I'd like to allow enough time to get around the town a bit.
Thanks,
Dave

If you sit high enough in section 25 of turn 15, you can nearly see the whole track. We sat there for aussie super cars this year

And go to the Salt Lick.

We stayed in the bustling town of Buda. Walmart and Cabela's next door for your hunting or ammo needs. Definitely a long shuttle or cab ride. Renting a car is strongly advised.

And if you meet up with any locals to go eat BBQ... don't let them take you here:

You can go here but only if you went to the Salt Lick the night before.

I went to the V8 Supercars earlier this year. Downtown Austin is such a great place, 6th Street is great for food, drinks & music. The locals are very friendly too.
The food I ate in Austin was the best I had for the whole US trip this time round.

It was about 25-30 mins by coach from downtown to the track. Talking to coach drivers they told how long it took to get in to car parks in a car, big queues. I'm sure those who went last year can advise

So depending on your budget, I would suggest somewhere in downtown, it will be going off I suggest.

And if no one else has suggested, try Salt Lick :D
Not sure how you would get there without a hire car though, maybe Greg Weld if he is in town could take you, I believe he likes it there.

What he said, the place does lack for shade

I hear that is the place to go. I didn't make it there. Here is a picture of our guide talking to some of his local friends about where we should eat.:headscratch:

As you can imagine it didn't work out.
