question about trailing arm on a torque arm suspension
 

Does the trailing arm have to be parallel like in a 4-link/bar setup? Or does it matter as much? Thanks

My 2 cents. With a Torque Arm style rear suspension, the primary rear end locator in the Torque Arm itself. Articulation, CG and anti-squat will primarily be controlled by the location of the Torque Arm. With the added rear link arms, they can be mounted in various locations as long as during ride height they pivot in correlation with the Torque Arm in a manner that no binding is present.

So, in theory those lower rear link arms typically will be parallel to the ground to reduce rear steer, but can be angle inward toward the front frame location and outward to the rear axel mounting locations. However, I would try to locate them as wide as possible at the axel and then point them toward the front pivot point of the Torque arm.

The best way to determine if your deviated set up works is to actually mock it up and motion the suspension through it's typical cycle for verification of the correct articulation.
