2014 Z28 differential part #, Mark Stielow?
Im building a 69 Camaro and I'm considering using the differential from the new Z28. It's a Torsen diff with 3.91 gears.
I had considered the ZL1 diff but i think the Torsen diff lends itself to my application better than the clutch type LSD in the ZL1. I checked with the dealer and he needs a VIN number to get me a part number, since its not available until spring i can't get that. I realize the part is probably not available yet but they may have pricing so i can decide if i want to wait or just buy the ZL1 diff. Any help would be appreciated Thanks. Keith Quinn. |

http://www.newgmparts.com This company will ask for vin, but all the vin does is make sure that you order the correct part number. You just tell them that you don't have the Vin Number for the car. Although, the sales person can look up the part number for you or use the Newgmparts website in the future. (That company is cheaper than your dealer). Jeff |

If you want the Z/28 diff it will be available through GM Performance Parts this spring. Mark |

Thanks guys.
I have installed a C6 IRS in my 69, i originally planned on using the Dutchman aluminum IRS center section with an aluminum drop out and a quaife differential. This setup ends up being a little over $4000. I was looking at the ZL1 differential because it was reasonably priced and was up to the task as far as durability. Then I read about the Z28 differential and prefer the focus on road racing rather than 1/4 mile like the ZL1. That is the focus of my car. I should be around 3100lbs and the same or slightly less HP as the Z28. I was wondering if the price was set now so i could decide if its worth waiting or if i should just go with one of the other options. Is there a way to check pricing now? The other diff i was considering is the 1LE with the 3.91 gear. I think that uses a standard clutch type LSD though. Thanks for the quick replies and for answering while on vacation Mark. Here is another possible solution for you. Jeff Lee and his father are doing these now. I know they have been covered in a couple magazines. You may want to check with them for fitment verification. |
Hamnerhead
Thanks Bill.
I did look at the Hammerhead also but only saw pricing for kits. I would just need the center section. I did call and leave a message asking for pricing without axles. If seems like a very pricey setup though. The GM parts are priced very reasonably and I think they will take the abuse that it will see in my application. Keith Quinn. |
OK, I just knew these guys had IRS parts. :EmoteClueless:

I'm sure you have seen it, but if not have you looked at Strange's S60 IRS center section?
