Battery draw and buzzing coming from behind glove box

I believe this has something to do with the heater fan because it started after I hooked it back up. This is in my 71 Monte Carlo.

So the battery is completely flat. When I tried charging it tonight I heard a buzzing coming from the car. I could also feel a faint vibration on the passenger side of the firewall.

After investigating a bit I found that the buzzing is coming from some box with wires coming from the bottom that is right behind the glove box. The buzzing got louder as I opened the door and activated the interior light, but it had a bit of delay to it. When I pushed the button in to turn the light off it took a second to quiet down, but still buzzes.

Has anyone ran into this before with a Chevelle or any other old GM vehicle?

I would like to get this figured out soon so I can take this freshly T56 swapped Monte out and rip some ass.

I disconnected the ground for the heater fan switch, it still buzzes.

I pulled out the two metal pieces in the steering column by the key, it still buzzes.

This is beyond aggravating.

Heater resistor?
Blower relay?

This is without the key in the ignition switch?

You may have a dead short IN the battery --- but because it's flat there's just some voltage without any amperage. I would disconnect the battery and take it and run a load test etc on it. Sometimes a battery can sulfate and the sulfate builds up in the bottom of the battery until it shorts out the plates.

Didn't matter if the key was in or out. I believe it may be the blower relay gone bad. I pulled the plug out to stop the buzzing and my fan still works with a switch that was wired in years ago.

It no longer kills the battery and everything works...

Finally got to take the Monte out with the 6 speed. Great easy clutch pedal and the pro 5.0 shifter is sweet. No more burning up the old TH350.
