Just wanting to return my 1965 Mustang back into a street car since I have had it for sale awhile now. With a ladder bar rear end how would it corner on the street?Or should I just change out the rear for a torque arm or 4 link?

For any car to handle well in the corners the rear suspension needs to articulate (body & rear end housing angle difference). Ladder bars bind with small roll angles, which is very bad for cornering.
If you go to this thread and read post #3, you'll find the differences in the various types of rear suspensions for handling. Best wishes. |
not to mention a spool, 4.30 gears, and 14:1.

That motor will be replaced by a 5.4 modular and 5 speed trans.I going to be changing out the spool for a limited slip.

Why not just do a custom style torque arm setup since you already have the mounting points for the ladder bar already set up. Also add a front sway bar to help with body roll. And will the 5.4 be N/A, turbo or supercharged?

I thought about using the ladder bar cross member to mount a torque arm.The 5.4 is out of a 99 E250 but needs a new crank.Thought about doing a turbo setup. There is so much that needs to be changed that would love to just sell it and build a new car.

Anything other than that is just peein' in the wind. You could give the car away and be money ahead by the time you change everything about the car. Sell it -- make a plan - buy or build new what you want this time around. |
