Suggestions on Rims
I have a 67 Convertible and put the Detroit Speed front and rear suspension kits on my car. We installed the minitub kit as well. I really like the Centerline Lazer Rims but the widest they come in is 10. I believe with the minitub kit 12.5-13 will fit and I might as well put as much meat as I can.
Any suggestions on something that looks similar? Cant wait for the spring!! |
If you're still running leafs, the widest you can go is 12", maybe 12.5" without the tires rubbing on the leafs. Personally, I think a 335 fits a 12" wheel perfect.
Now, as far a choosing a wheel, that's about as hard of a decision as you're going to face with your project. Just ask those around here that have struggled with that! |
I really like the rims on Jeff Thrush's camaro have you guys found anything similar? Any websites I should check out??
Thanks for the help! |
I think, and I hope I am not wrong, but Jeffs are Centerlines...someone correct me if I am wrong. You can check out some of the popular rim sites.
www.Budnik.com www. Bonspeed.com some of the higher prices rims are Fikse (www.fikse.com??). I was buzzing through Budniks wheels today, I think you can find a variety of wheels close to Thrush's style. I am bonspeed fan myself. Look through the projects and feature cars to see a some styles in place on Camaros too. Hope this helps. Tim |
Jerebus67...whenever you decide on a rim and tire combo, I would suggest purchasing them through Discount Tire (if you have one near you). I went through them with my Billet Specialties and Nitto set-up and they were $400 cheaper than the nearest competitor, I couldn't believe it. They can get anything too. Be sure to check with them on price before you make your purchase.

wheels
I really like the BC09 wheel. www.bcforged.com
They are about $400 a wheel with any offset you like in a 17 and about $450 in an 18. |
Centerline
Yes, The wheels on my car are Centerline Lazers. They are every similar to a Z06 wheel, Soft Lip, inside mounted valve stem, very nice build quality. Centerline may build you a set wider if you requested it.
Oh, and its Trush, Thrush is a Muffler! ;) Pics if you haven't seen these wheels before.... https://lateral-g.net/trush/7.jpg https://lateral-g.net/trush/5.jpg |
Another question.
I just got off the phone with DSE and they gave me these specs. Rear - 315 tire on an 11 rim backspacing of 5 - 5.25 They suggest narrowing the axle. Do you need to narrow the axle? front - 8 inch with 4 7/8 spacing Anyone have any input on the axle question? Thanks for your help! |
Jerebus, you don't need to narrow the axle, but Imo if you're running a 315 or 335 tire on an eleven or twelve inch rim the offset required to do so just doesn't look right.
But, it is your car so the desicion is ultimately your own. I went with the 335/30/18 on an 18x12 Budnik Fontana with 6" of backspace. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-.../IM000194a.JPG You can also go to the Lateral-G homepage to see wheels in similar sizes and backspace installed on cars. |
Payton King....
Those BC Forged Wheels....can you get them in a 11" wheel? I only see 10's as high as they go. |
