Auto Club ROVAL video
 

I thought you guys would enjoy this video. This was taken 5 3 14. We were running with Speed Ventures.
There are some famous characters in the video. Starting out you see the butternut yellow 67 Camaro of Tom Foglesong. At about 4 minutes you will see (for a very short period) Jake with his ls7 69 Camaro...he's kinda fast :)
We ran back to back sessions in this video. It was a 95 deg day.

My car is a 71 Camaro, it is a nothing fancy street car with factory air, decent shocks, nt05's, g braces, and subframe connectors. Engine is a 383, t56 mag trans. 12" 1le front brakes,11' lt1 rear brakes.

We drove the car to the track 6 hours, ran the ROVAL all day then, drove back home 6 hours.

I am talking to my 15 yr old son, who is my passenger. Just in case you thought I was a wacko for talking to myself.

I was cool with the speed on entry of turn 1 on the oval, at first. We initially were about 130ish mph on the first couple of sessions. As we got more confidant and started to enter closer to the wall were at 140 mph. The last session we gained 12# of tire pressure. My brain started to work. I became a bit worried about a tire issue sending us into the wall. There would be absolutely nothing I could do to avoid the outside wall if a rt front tire went down.
So, we didn't slow down, just didn't try to go faster.

It was great fun, and the experience was made even better because my buddy Tom LM7_67 is on track with us.

hit 140, lift, apex at 112, get up to 130 again before braking for what felt like a really tight left/right combo....

Thanks for posting. I've never been on that track. Looks like fun. Certainly looks like you can reach well above 140 if you wanted to.
12 lb hike in tire pressures is huge. Goes without say but you might want to drop a little more air out of the tires next time out.
Just out of curiosity what were your tire pressures cold?

We start out with 33 front and 28 rear. The car weighs 3619 then throw in 400 # of driver and passenger. Typical tire temps are about 10 deg diff outside center and inner. My inner is higher temp. But I had added an 3/8 addl - camber. My old camber setting of a heavy 2 deg had my tire temps pretty even across the face.

That is a heavy car. If it were me I'd be thinking about a brake system upgrade.
So you were at 45 lbs hot up front and 40 lbs rear? I know there have been a few guys that have run the NT-05's on here. Maybe they will chime in with some recommended tire temps.

Before I came back to comment - or saw the other comments - I was thinking to myself --- WOW -- the tires really started losing grip once they got some heat into them... That would be the OPPOSITE of what I want out of my tires! LOL
