Currie drain plug Ford 9"
So does this thing get welded to the hole you make on the inside of the housing, or outside?
Seems like you wouldn't be able to get all the lube out if you welded it to the inside. Description: Our large drain plug kit features a 1/2" pipe thread allen drive steel plug and an 1 3/4" o.d. weld in steel bung that fits into a 1 1/8" hole. http://www.currieenterprises.com/ces...E.aspx?id=1578 Anyone have a link for a nice fill plug? Thanks, Joe |
Honestly, I just used a half coupling and a pipe plug in the bottom of my 9" axle. Drill a hole, weld the half coupling onto the outside. Cost me like $3 for the 2 pieces from the hardware store. This allows ALL the fluid to drain out.

It welds on from the outside. There is a step on the other side to register it to the hole. Usually they weld a little box around the plug to protect it.
You can also weld on a 1/2" fine thread nut & plug it with a short bolt & copper washer. |
