Cerakote
Figured I would start a new thread instead of building off the other. What's the deal with cerakote? I see that cerakote is a firearms coating but Stielow used it on Hellfire so obviously it has other uses. Can someone give me a run down on why I should consider it for a coating or any other reason it should be considered?

durable and easy to prep for.
Tough to get regular paint to stick to stainless. |
forgot powder coating too

In regards to weapons, it's supposed to do very well with repeated friction from semi-auto weapons. Doesn't wear as quickly and does very well against the salt water tests as well. I've used it on a few rifles before. I believe they make high heat paint as well, but don't quote me on that, it's been a few years since I was really into guns.

I was looking at this stuff yesterday, looks like it a spray applied ceramic type paint then baked on. Yes mostly gun dealers If you go to there website you can put in your zip code and it will give you a list of dealers. I wouldn't imagine they would have a big oven such as powder coat shops. So probably would not be able to do big parts. Definitely looks cool,

Thanks guys. I may have to look into this when I go to redo my trim one day.

Very durable and covers piece without major buildup for areas where tolerances need to be kept.
