T56 Reverse question
 

So my T56 isn't going into reverse it seems like it doesn't engage enough. Does the reverse solenoid need to be wired up?

YES!

To the brake switch.

You don't need the RLO wired for it to go into reverse. It just harder to push it over without it.

If you wire it to the brake switch every time you touch the brakes the solenoid will activate. It works but IMO not a good solution.

You can pull a wire from the ECM and it will work off VSS or you can add a switch as I did

I have mine wired to a button switch in the shift ball.

I changed the spring to a lighter one, goes in with minimal effort now. Still enough resistance to avoid engaging reverse unintentionally.

I like that option.

I agree. Pretty hard to hit reverse unless you're power shifting into 5th

Any further info on this spring? (part # exc.)

I would not install a weak reverse lockout spring, I would wire up the solenoid as it was intended. I also have my reverse solenoid wired to a line lock button on the shift knob.

With a close ratio box that could be and issue on a fast road course.
