Temp sensor

Can a Temperature sender for a transmission be put in the cooling line close to the trans and get an accurate reading? I don't really want to drop the pan and put a fitting in it right now.

Yes, but the problem is that the probe on the end of the sensor takes up a lot of space. If your temp sender doesn't have a probe then it is easier.

That said, the pan is the best place for an automatic trans temp sensor.
