Ridetech rear coilovers
 

I'm looking into rear coil-over kits for my 64. I like the Ridetech kit but can't seem to find the extended and collapsed dimensions on the shocks. Does anyone know what they are? Here's a photo of my suspension sitting on the bump stops. I want it as low as possible and I'm afraid the shocks might be to long. Any thoughts?

The coilover kit is designed to lower the car right around 2" compared to factory driving height. With our shock brackets, the ride height measurement from mount to mount is 14"-14.5". We use our 5.2" stroke shocks in the rear of these cars, here are the exact dimensions on it:

Compressed: 11.63"
Ride height: 14.5"
Extended: 16.42"

Our bracket drops the shock mount down farther, so the longer shock can be used for more travel, but still keep the lowered driving height.

Thanks for the reply Josh. So when you say the kit is designed to lower the car 2", is that referring to the kit itself with the shock adjusted somewhere in the middle giving me room to go up or down a little more. I'm sure I will want to be lower than 2" and worried I might bottom out the shock. I'm just trying to figure out if I should order a shorter shock from the start or get the kit and check it on the car. I pretty much want it as low as possible while stuffing a 20" wheel in there.

This is roughly the ride height I want to go. It'll have to be a little higher but as close to this as I can get

Banko's 65 is sick. I love the ride height and stance. It sounded like he did some notch work in the rear. Is that car still around?

You're correct, the 2" drop is with the shock right at the mid-travel mark. We want you to have the lowered height but still have enough extension/compression so you don't have to worry about topping or bottoming out. Typically, we don't recommend going with a shorter shock if you don't have to, it could hinder the ride quality in some bad ways! Vince posted a pretty good example above :D

Thank you guys for the advice. I ended up ordering the kit and I'm hopeful it will be where I want it. I'll update when I get it in. I can't wait.
