285/35/19 on a 3" lowered 1969 camaro 10" wheel no mini tub
the issue im having is that BFG doesnt sell KDWs anymore. Im running 275/35/19s 10" tire. Its lowered 3" with DSE lowering springs.
A friend of mine has a pair of 285/35/19s for sale, will they fit? or is 275 the largest size I can run without being mini tubbed. Any other tire options if those 285s are to big |
If your axle is centered perfectly, you can run the 285 wide tire on the '69 if you are willing to cut the outer fender lip down, or roll it flat. Might also need to move your exhaust tips, if they are next to the back of the tire.
Wheel offsets are going to have to be perfect, too. I had a pair of 285/35-19 on my previous car. Stock wheel tubs, stock axle, 10.0 wheel with 5.5" backspace, rolled outer fenders, hammered a little on the inner wheel housing. Thanks bro. That was what i,thought. Because on one side the 275s rub. So I'm going to have to center the rear-end.? How do i,do,that?:y0!:

i have 285/30/20 on my camaro. non tubbed. barely I mean barely fit.

So my car rubs alittle on the right side. I'll double check the fender roll. But how hard is it to center the rear-end. Is it worth the hassle or should I look for a new set?

Are you rubbing on the inside wheel well, or the outside? if your rubbing on the inside, then its at simple as adding a spacer to push the wheel out, and roll/or cut the outer fender to allow it to move outward. if your rubbing on the outside, you'll need to roll or cut first, see if it fits, and go from there. You'll more than likely remove the existing axle perches, and re-weld new ones. for centering - The leaf spring perch has a nub, that retains the axle in center position, you'll have to grind that off for it to allow it to move front to back if there's a centering issue. before removing.. measure from the center of your front wheels, to center of your axle, on each side.. note that measurement.. and make sure you have that before you button anything up. You'd need to have your wheels mounted to the tire, and check your tolerances, before taking any steps first. . |
