914 Coyote V8 with 996 Suspension

Well I'm new to this forum but it is here where I got the idea to do the 914 with a 996 suspension. I understand that a member called SPODE built one. Well I'm following in his foot steps and hope to get useful info as I move along. I'll post pictures of the build when I get to the office.

I don't know who SPODE is, but there was 914/LS/996 Suspension by a guy named driveability on the Porsche Forums - He sold it a few months back. I don't think he did the original build and it wasn't finished when he sold it.

Here is my mid-engine big go-kart

SPODE is the guy who sold it to Drive-abilty. Then Drive-Ability sold it to someone in Las Vegas. I like your "go-kart" by the way!!

driveability was here too. https://lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=45044

Neat project. Many P-car fans on this forum...me being one.

Brave project man. Its gonna be killer.

Love the LS-944's as well, i've seen a few on Rennslist for the 20k range, i might bite one of these days....

Cheers and welcome, mike

Here are some pictures of how I twisted the donor frame to see measure it's torsional stiffness. The final numbers show that the Porsche 996 Cabriolet has a stiffness of 4568'# per Degree.

That's a cool test--it's astounding how sadly flexy our old cars were in their stock states, and how basic subframe connectors do practically nothing to change that state. At the same time, it's really amazing how torsionally stiff modern cars are; it's also interesting to see how the torsional stiffness really helps with ride quality when hi-po suspension setups are applied.

It looks like someone needs to start a proper build thread--welcome to the site!
