Wilwood brakes question
WILWOOD BRAKES QUESTION
I am running kit 140-9803 front brakes with spec 37 rotors. We are getting a knocking noise on the drivers side.. under hard braking only not soft braking. Is this the pads moving because they are not bedded yet? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated... |
Retorque castle nut in the hub. Is this a new build? It could also be suspension or a body mount that is knocking.
|
Make sure all brake components installed have been torqued to Wilwoods specs then try again. If knocking noise continues insure hubs were secured properly and all other suspension components are in good working order. I'd start with ball joints

Check for "witness marks" on any and all rotating pieces and stationery pieces... it could be a bent wheel that only shows up under duress.... Describe the "knock". Metal on metal - dull - thumping - can you feel it in your feet.... etc. What kind of car.... so we can have a "visual" on all the parts involved. |
check that the caliper is shimmed to the correct height had this happened on my Nova first time out and the Rotor was expanding when it got hot and was touching the caliper bridge
just a thought |
Whatever happened with this problem??? did you figure it out?
