DSE subframe connectors- Interior finishing question
I've installed DSE subframe connectors on my 68 Camaro and they protrude into the rear passenger floor pan area. This will prevent the carpet from laying totally flat.
Has anyone come up with a solution to build up the area on either side of the connector so the floor is flat? Maybe use dense foam, balsa, or ??? Or should I just not worry about it, throw in the carpet and go? Daniel |
I use dense foam and jute.

I used 1" dense foam and built it up in layers to follow the floor contours. Glued the layers together with 3M spray adhesive. A 4" grinder with a flapper disc works perfect for shaping it. Here's what mine looked like when it was done...

I wanted to follow up with my solution. I found some anti-fatigue mat from Northern Tool for $10. It was dense enough to accomplish what I wanted. Cheap, simple, effective.

I used Harbor Freight floor mats that I cut to shape: dense, cheap, easy to cut!
