TKO 600 issues. Who to send to
I put a Keisler Perfect Fit TKO 600 in my 69 Camaro around 2005. From day one the second to third shift is not good. Apparently a known defect around that time.
I am in Nor Cal and my question is instead of sending my trans all the way to Liberty Gear in Michigan is there someone closer to me in California ? Plus Liberty is three months out. Thank you in advance for any suggestions. |
Not any closer, but if you are shipping anyway try Hanlon Motorsports

I vote for D&D Performance on that one. They did wonders on my TKO600. However, they're in Michigan as well...

How is your Reverse gear ?? Mine can be a bitch.

Bite the bullet and go Magnum. I upgraded my 600 with carbon fiber synchros and shifter and I still hated it. I was spinning a big block 6800 with an aluminum flywheel in full disclosure.

One of my friends sent his to Liberty. I must say, I never thought a TKO600 could shift that nice.......up or down.
No more 2-3 issues at WFO either. Money well spent Tim |
Why not just Sell it and switch to a T56....
I had a 600 —- worst shifting “truck” transmission ever... By the time you crate it and ship it - and pay freight back and pay for the rebuild and the better parts.... and the downtime..... |
I'm pretty sure Craig Wright does some TKO stuff, and he's in Bakersfield. Might give him a call and see http://www.wrightconnection.net/home.html
also on facebook https://www.facebook.com/wrightconnection.net/ |
As stated sell that POS and buy a T56 Magnum.... the smoothness in shift quality cannot even be compared.... I'm shifting a 100% stock T56 Magnum at 7800rpm making 1200rwhp+ in my LS9 turbo RX-7 1/2 mile car. I put them in all the conversions I do. TKO600 is dinosaur technology.
They are putting them behind 2JZ builds making 1600rwhp+ and shifting at 10,000rpm running mid 7's@200mph+ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_D-IXfRzGg T56 Magnum has provisions for mechanical and VSS speedos, multiple shifter locations, beefy 31 spline output shaft, and all the internals are made from a better grade steel than the older T56's '93-06 style.... |
Thunder, what did you decide?
I have a 600 and it's not in the cards to change it, going to live with it... |
