Help with brake and spindle kit

Hey guys i am new here and new to the car "restomod" thing. I have a 70 Cutlass S that i want switch from pwr drum to disc brakes. I have heard some people say 2" drop spindles are good and others say no so i am confused here. I want the lowered car look. I was on ebay and i just wondered what you guys think of this disc brake kit http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...&category=34199 any help would be great! TIA

hey thnx Jim, altho that looks cool i will need spindles as well because i have drum brakes right now. I might be wrong here but i was looking at the wilwood site and am i correct in seeing that they have a kit that you can use stock drum spindles?

You might want to check these out too. http://baer.com/Media/ContentDetails.aspx?ContentID=107 They use 11" rotors (they offer larger ones if you like) but basically the same dual piston aluminum PBR calipers used on C5 Corvettes. This is top shelf stuff and it just flat works and works well. And I`m not just saying that because I`m a Baer dealer. :P You`re better off lowering the front end with springs. Drop spindles lower the car but leave the suspension arms at the stock angle which is less desirable for good handling. Marcus

I agree. Lowering the car with dropped springs, not spindles,is a better option.

FWIW,the Serious Street kit listed above uses C4 PBR calipers, not C5.

Oops,I stand corrected. I haven`t worked with the 11" system before only the 12" and up. Still C4 calipers are a mightly big step up from old single piston iron calipers. Marcus
