Ok, engine opinions....

So I made the deal on the '71 Camaro. I'm having some work done by the guy that built it before I pick it up. Now I'm thinking, should I keep the 406 in it or put a 502 in it or a hopped up small block? I called the Shafiroff and talked to a guy about their 540/695 hp motor. He went through all the specs and after he told me that it had a big solid roller, I had some second thoughts. I really didn't want a solid roller street car. I need to make a decision in the next few days if I want to get this done. What do you guys think?

Well I think that you should get a big block
and then sell the 406 to ME!

What are your intentions for the car?

I might do the power tour with it, run it at Pigeon Forge ect. I don't really want/ need a fuel injected motor since most of my other cars are. I need to decide if I want lighter weight for handling or big block power..

Hmm, I was going to tell you to skip the Camaro since you already have the same platform with the TA and buy a Cuda or Challenger. ;)

But now that it's yours, I would maybe do a nice all aluminum SB2 or alum 454 small block? You already have a big block in the 69 Camaro.

I say de-stroke it to a 377 and rev it to hell and back. It'll make good power, and be a blast on a race track.

nice purchase...very nice and clean car...
i like the suggestion of an sb2 small block ..now that would be different and make gobs of power.....
i think you would enjoy the car more with the lighter motor and more useable horespower...im not in favor of the big block....
enjoy the new addition

You could put a carbeurated LS2 that will make about 550hp. Simple, no electronics.

SW, you da man.
